Re: Wii U
Agreed. The U is a must have, it's an incredible machine.pubjoe wrote:It is. Nintendo Land is a lot if fun, it makes excellent use if the screen and it's something different to the norm. Mario Brothers U is just **** brilliant as a spiritual relative to the Nes/Snes line. Both games provide same-room multiplayer which is about as good as it gets.

Re: Wii U
Still enjoying it, I have about an hour at night after the kids tea time where we get stuck into a bit of Nintendoland/Mario.mario kart for the Wii.

Re: Wii U
I only just recently started playing Mario World on the U...... it's ****
and brings back the SNES days of SMW. I've completed three worlds so far, but this mo-fo will take plenty of my time to progress. So little time and so many games to play. Life's a bitch!

Wii-u needs new games, if you had mario since launch it is starting to get boring.

Sonic Racing is available for around £20. Anyway...

[edit] The above (and a little insight into next proper zelda gameplay) straight from the hosses mouth:Gaming Bolt wrote:Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma announced that there would be a special HD remake for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker releasing on the Wii U this fall.
And quite frankly, this news is awesome. Considering Wind Waker is one of the most under-rated Zelda, not to mention GameCube, games of all-time, it’s great to see Wind Waker HD being tailored for a new generation.
Even more impressive is the work that the team has done on the remake. A few comparison shots have been released just to showcase how the original matches up to the new HD version. And they are a sight to behold.
Forget a bump in visual quality: Nintendo has taken the cel-shaded style of the previous game and made it all the more better with Wind Waker HD.
Will this indeed ease the wait for the next full-fledged Legend of Zelda for the Wii U? Given the improvement in gameplay, it’ll certainly be a highly enticing distraction.

In the gamecube images above it looks like whoever took them added widescreen stretching. Ignoring that, the main differences are the sky texture and dramatic light/shadow contrast. It's amazing the difference some lighting effects can make isn't it?

Wind Waker's almost perfect. It's a shame the two end dungeons were replaced with the repetitive triforce fragment hunt*, otherwise I would rate it my favourite. I'd have to say Link to the Past just beats it for it's more satisfying ending.
* It'd be awegasmic if they rectified this in the re-release.

Re: Wii U

I did love WW to begin with - the intro and first couple of hours promise an epic adventure - the atmosphere, music, humour etc are all in there and the characters are quite adorable

The world's initially great fun to explore, there are a bunch of cool and amusing things to discover, and finding and using new items is as exciting as ever but I found that all that later gives way to an excessive and unwelcome amount of backtracking and frustratingly dull sailing rather than adventuring and making any real progress, so for me it became too repetitive and a bit of a chore, losing it's charm about 3/4 of the way through as a result

I was pretty disappointed with WW and it's one of the few Zelda games that I've still no desire to replay

Sorry WW. I really wanted to like you

Re: Wii U
I never used to think much of the Zelda games until the Nintendo 64 came out. Ocarina of Time is one of the most amazing games ever made, and an absolute must have for any video game collection.IDCHAPPY wrote:I've still never played a Zelda game
