Re: N64 region free modding the humane way :)
You probably don't need to create a new thread every time you want to show off a new video from your channel.

Maybe I’ll make a master thread. I get where you are coming fromLEGENOARYNINLIA wrote: September 20th, 2019, 4:17 pm You probably don't need to create a new thread every time you want to show off a new video from your channel.

I guess I just don’t like the idea of cutting the plastic. Maybe I’m in the minority lol

Capcom CPS 2 Vids
First episode is the intro and a hardware platform overview. It's the most mainstream platform I've covered to date (considering the first two were 3DO M2 and FM Towns lol) so I'd love to hear everyones thoughts.
Ten more episodes to come, all wall to wall gameplay on my favorite games

Coding for the Konami / 3DO M2
Finally got it up and running (with help from someone who worked on it in the 90’s)
Now it’s possible to make custom edits to the Konami M2 files (in hex, I don’t have the source) and recompile the files in the SDK so the iso still confirms to Opera file system requirements.
Before you could only edit so much before the sector size was broken in the iso. Now it’s edit to your hearts content and have the SDK rebuild your iso for you with the correct file system and sector sizing.
Hopefully this helps with my real time clock bypass in progress. Way more control over the code than I was before. Just a fun and dumb little project

How not to package a pcb for shipping :(
It was a working Planet Harriers board before it was shipped. I asked the seller to package it well. I even offered to pay more in shipping to cover the cost of extra packaging...
That’s what I got

Right? I warned them to ship securely. Offered extra money for it. And I get this

Re: How not to package a pcb for shipping :(
To be honest you could have received it broken even if it was shipped like the game you have in your "proper" packaging example. The problem is the weight of the whole thing (especially caged) and the fact that the BGA chips aren't properly soldered to the board. The motherboard needs to rest on a like six inches of packing peanuts to survive normal man handling that happens during shipping.
I own four Hikaru motherboards. The slightest bump will knock off the BGA chips of these things.
EDIT: Did you have to return the thing? The ROM board should most likely be fine. If you find a cheap Nascar or Airtrix motherboard, you can swap the ROM board over.

I returned it. There was water damage on the game I did not notice when making the video. I indicated water damage on the mobo but found under rom corrosion on the game pcb. Probably never worked in the first place.

Yes it was a risk, and that’s why I gave the seller directions.nem wrote: October 4th, 2019, 3:11 pm To be honest you could have received it broken even if it was shipped like the game you have in your "proper" packaging example. Asked them to a) disconnect all the boards and bubble wrap and box separately in the mail box B) make sure none of those boxes were ABOVE the mobo. Said to put all the boxes below the mobo and away from the chips/sinks. Then said to wrap all that in bubble wrap, put in box, add more bubble wrap, and ship.
Instead they tossed a pile of pcbs on some paper and put it in the mail

Re: How not to package a pcb for shipping :(
we need that brown paper back so we can cover the school books.
Worst was spent in a Tesco bag... But at least it was a cps2 game so had some bit of protection

Re: How not to package a pcb for shipping :(
I bought a game from a guy in Italy. It was a kaneko super Nova PCB and cart. It was wedged tightly in a pizza box barely just bigger than the PCB with cart attached. That box was then stuck in a much bigger box with a little piece of bubble wrap stuffed in there. When it got to me the outer box had a big hole in it and the smaller box was rattling around inside.
I couldn't see any physical damage, so I plugged it in suspecting the worst. To my surprise it worked perfectly

Re: How not to package a pcb for shipping :(
I've received a Robocop 2 PCB with the JAMMA connector sticking out of a USPS box with one end open, with just some tape holding it in. The seller was from Denmark. Luckily, the board still worked. When I confronted the idiotic seller about the irrational packaging, his answer was "PCBs are hardy".

My favourite was a Neo Geo AES sent in a crunchy nut cornflakes box stuffed with newspaper and only taped at the top.
