I'd love a dog but most breeds, especially short haired ones, make my eyes and nose stream and itch if I go near them I don't much fancy having some poodle cross thing.
Get a yorkie! they are supposed to be fine for dog allergy people, something about the coat not shedding and being hyper-allergenic?
I was forced into one despite my protestations about having such a gay dog but as it happens he is a right little dude! loves a scrap with willing combatants, not scared of anything and follows me around like a shadow.
Oh and if required he is an excellent IN with the ladies as he gets them a cooing. I know, i know you just got married

Here is the little scamp
He's a cracker
I quite like terriers. My uncle used to breed Wire Terriers which were ace. The only dog that ever bit me was a Westie - got me right in the calf the wee ****
I have only ever known 1 westie and he was an absolute skank who had nothing going for him.
I know now its the owners fault that their dog is disgusting but i cannot get over what a rubbish dog it was. The only other rubbish dog i have met was a minature pinscher who used to wet itself when you went near it for no reason.
I am friends with all the other dogs in the world just not those two.

Heres a pic of my little dog, Hugo. He' s a proper little bugger sometimes but great fun none the less and full of beans 24/7
and we have 2 little guinea pigs. The only photos I have of them are from when we first got them. They are great little companions and squeek and come up to the edge of the cage when we get home. Its really cute!
Today we had to put our beloved old tomcat, Cato down. He was suffering from (what we think was) dementia, pooping all over the apartment which is a no-no as we have a baby crawling around putting everything into his mouth without hesitation.
So long, old friend.
(^^He's merely sleeping in this picture, don't worry)
@Emph: Thats sad I used to have a dog that went like that at 17-years and we had to have her put down. It would've been cruel to let them go on like that. Still sad though.
We lost one of ours recently too. It was technically my sisters but it had spent most of it's life at my parents. He was getting quite old and was really slowing down although he didn't seem in pain and was quite happy just chilling out all day. My sister has been in Dubai for about a year and she came back over to visit recently. I thought he was getting towards the end of his life but I hoped he would hold on whilst my sister came back as I knew it would probably be the last time she saw him. Thankfully he did but the day after she went back he fell asleep under my dads chair in the garden and didn't wake up again It was really sad to see him go but I'm glad my sister got to see him and that he went in peace.
