Living in your house for a longer period may very well be more dangerous than visiting chernobyl for a short period.

I remember the dad of a friend was engineer at the nuclear plant close by (was shut down like 30 years or so) and he used to have a thorium ball on his desk. The plant was a breeder reactor, the used uranium to breed Thorium into uranium. He allways said, it is all fine, unless we get hit by a nutron bomb
