I've never taken to level 3 im sorry to say :shifty:

I really like Mushi as a whole, music, visuals and everything, but damn, that level is bloody relentless and I need to practice more.

I've never liked any vs fighting games. I love to look at them, but I've never liked to play them.

Haha! I was waiting for you :awe:

Don't get me wrong, I admire watching skilled players, but playing it personally, just not for me.

The only Cave games I've really played is Death Smiles 2 so all the rest.

Never really got the whole 3d Street fighter stuff either or any SF game after 2 for that matter.

I've yet to conquer fps, very same and just don't enjoy them and hate that gaming is filled with them.

I have never liked time crisis and have tried multiple times to like it, love virtua cop house of the dead and a lot of other shooter games but then I play tc and it does nothing at all for me.

Mortal Kombat. It's one of the few games where it feels like your inputs have noting to do with what happens on the screen.

It's the pace that's wildly different from other 2D fighting games, because of how unforgiving the spacing can be and how the input parser works. Everyone is tall and thin and the buttons are not designed to move forward and land a hit, but to stop the opponent from advancing near you. And if you just mash say a punch button and get stuck throwing a flurry of punches, a better player will inch close enough to sweep you. After which they have the advantage. It can be frustrating to learn the ropes.

geotrig wrote: October 11th, 2023, 10:50 am So, what are yours ? I have a few and probably more than I actually like.

This is arcade related : my consoles list would be way too big ! :lolno:
Simpsons just felt blah to me ....need to give it a go but never had any desire to try it again or own it ever.
Turtles /turtles in time in time , same as above never clicked and I like some turtle games on consoles.
/me ducks from cools :awe: nz story just could never get into it nearly "got" it the last time I tried it but still it just didn't hit home
cocoron wrote: October 11th, 2023, 3:18 pm @geotrig
You should play turtles /turtles in time with a friend. It makes much more fun.

I agree with Futari is more interesting than the first Mushi, but I like them both.

Me and a mate were playing Muchi Muchi Pork a while back, but for some reason we did not enjoy the game very much. What we did enjoy was Pink Sweets instead.
I agree! Those games rock in multiplayer, especially with 4 players on 2 cabs Turtles in Time is a blast! Playing them in single player is boring af.

Second life type games like The Sims, I guess basically farming simulators, I think they are just god awful and can understand why people play them but they're so boring and tedious. I remember one of the Dreamcast Sonic games had an aspect of this where you had to hatch Chao eggs on your VMU and you could see them in the game, that was the last time I thought something like that was fun. I think these days people play those games for the imaginary friend aspect or if it has an online function it's like a social outing for them.

Besides Virtua Striker 3, I would have loved to enjoy Soul Calibur 2 (and the latest on PS4, is it 6 or 7?) but the inputs are too many for me to remember; like Gen on SFZ2 (probably awesome though).

Every single Yagawa game except Dimahoo. What kind of dumbass mechanic is dying regularly at strategic points of the game... (liked Muchi Muchi Pork though, which seemed a lot more approachable to me. Plus you can see the bullets well)
Never got into New Zealand story either.
I'm a big fan of most Cave games, but I didn't enjoy Dangun Feveron much due to the idiotic ill-fitting theme. Plus I'm not a fan of announcers in shmups.

Jan wrote: October 11th, 2023, 3:48 pm Aka to Blue, I'm sure it is a good game, I didn't like the mechanics and I found it really really unappealing.
Now and again I play a credit, but every single time I become annoyed by the lousy hardrock soundtrack.

I played Splatterhouse for the first time on ACA a few months back. It’s absolute garbage.
I can completely understand this, yet I love Splatterhouse.

Care to elaborate? I admit they're not bad games, and I've spent quite a lot of hours playing the latter. But...

In my opinion, MOTW brings absolutely nothing new to the table. I simply don't get it. It's the most boring fighting game SNK has ever created. Zero interesting mechanics. And the balance is rather lopsided. Can't even think of anything else to say about the game.

3rd Strike on the other hand... objectiveIy speaking can't fault anything except the game balance. It's extremely boring to fight against Chuns, Yuns, Kens and Makotos at this point. 90% of the players play them exactly in the same way. Also, after you break through the mid skill level, all kinds of "oh you didn't know?" crap comes into play. Maybe it's my background as a VF fan, but that **** doesn't fly with me. Also, speaking of both games, my personal preference in 2D fighters leans more into the snappy kind of gameplay. Not a fan of slower and more fluid gameplay with a sloppy parser. SF3 started it and SNK went along with MOTW and Last Blade, and I really can't stand it.

I'd say both games are treated more like fetishes than actual fighting games among the majority these days. I'm happy that the 3rd Strike scene is still alive and well, and fans of the game can compete regularly. Not the same with MOTW, whose fans are mostly just posers who rarely show up to play.

3rd strike is ok took me a long time to warm to it preferred 2nd impact for a while for some reason.
