djsheep @Arcade Projects

Apparently SF6 Arcade runs on an upgraded TTX4.

Review here: https://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1477699.html

At the Taito booth of the arcade game exhibition "JAEPO2023", a test stand of "STREET FIGHTER 6 TYPE ARCADE" is exhibited.

This work is the arcade version of Capcom's fighting game "Street Fighter 6" scheduled for release on June 2nd. Scheduled to start operation in 2023, you can play this work in an arcade cabinet unique to amusement facilities. The content of the game is basically the same as the home version, but it is packed with the appeal of the arcade version, such as the built-in lever stick and powerful sounds. In addition, the ones that can be played at the venue are in the test stage, and photography was prohibited. Please note that it may differ from the product version.

A Luke tapestry will be installed at the venue!

In this trial version, you can choose from eight characters: Ryu, Luke, Jamie, Chun-Li, Guile, Kimberly, Juri, and Ken. On February 9th, there were 4 test stands set up in the booth, and it was possible to play against the player next to you.

I don't play many fighting games, so I was worried if I could play well, but "STREET FIGHTER 6 TYPE ARCADE" has a modern type of operation. This function is a new function that is scheduled to be implemented in "Street Fighter 6", and using this will simplify lever operation. Among the 8 buttons, the button on the lower right, where L2 etc. are assigned, becomes a special move button, and you can easily unleash Hadouken and Shoryuken just by pressing the lever + special move button. In addition, it also has an assist function that automatically connects to a combo when you hit the opponent with a weak attack or a strong attack while pressing the button on the bottom left. For that reason, it's a great feature for players who don't play many fighting games or who don't understand combos.

This time, I was nervous because I was playing against the person sitting next to me, but thanks to this function, I was able to smoothly perform Shoryuken and Hadoken even with unfamiliar lever operations. However, interpersonal battles are not sweet. Although I was able to cut it down to a little bit, the end was read out and I suffered a defeat.

This is an explanation of the operation type of "Street Fighter 6" for home use. In the version I tried this time, there were two types of operation methods, classic and modern.

Also, in the version I played this time, it is possible to play in training mode until the character selection of the person next to you is completed. Here you can make detailed settings and practice the operation until you find an opponent. The training mode is based on the contents of "Street Fighter V Type Arcade", but it seems that more detailed adjustments are possible.

In addition, I was able to confirm that it is possible to bring your own controller to play in the arcade version. Although the connection port is blocked in this trial version, it will be able to be used firmly in the product version deployed at amusement facilities. I would like to pay attention to the future of this work, which is scheduled to start operation in 2023.

Not many really care about modern Mortal Kombat graphics nor the Eurovision song contest, but if you combine the worst of them and call it Street Fighter 6 suddenly there's interest. :awe:

I like the style of SF6 more than the last two releases, the console versions story mode where you roam around a city walking into different matches sounds quite unique. However Capcom just need to be brave and make a new fighting game rather than chase shareholder value.

Unfortunately much like Tekken 8 in it's current WIP state for my liking there are way too many unnecessary art effects that obscure the action whenever a hit occurs.

For many the charm of a good fighter is seeing each move connect and ideally never break away from the action to show some weird camera angle -- really who enjoys that?

I can kind of understand the idea is to help somebody new to the game to compete against experienced players, but they may have been better off offering an 'alternative' version of each character where you hold down buttons to do special moves, maybe with auto block and so on.

I would think some arcade owners will blank out the 7+8 button In protest

Hopefully the attract screen or control panel explains the special move buttons clearly . 8 buttons makes it appear complex at first glance, well at least compared to say 4 buttons for Tekken.

That said most SF most players are familiar with the previous home releases and it worked okay if you were having a casual game with somebody who is new to fighting games and perhaps encouraged you to try other characters. I suspect the online ranking system of the arcade version will match appropriately.

The „adventure mode“ looks like a late 90s Sega made Dreamcast Game.

That's a compliment in my book.

I would agree there's a gameplay influence from Sega Yakuza series with Gachapon collecting of a Konami game / RPG.

eg use an energy drink collected to boost your attack stamina during a fight etc.

Interesting direction, makes sense they want appeal less to the hardcore 'frame counting' esports players and goes to explains why they included the extra buttons on the arcade.
