It's a wicked track
back then you were 7 I was 8 I'd only just started to masturbate
I like the lyric from Number One
I do things that are highly illegal, see me in Mcdonalds smoking on a regal
meh i play doj and galuda on a ps2 (practise mode )in the cabz ,batsugun saturn in the cabs.. play guwange on mame in the cab (i cant read the score so i don't take it serious still get to teh last level) and play my dodonpachi ,ketsui ,garegga pcb in the cab.. i dont feel guilty about any of it.. yoose are all fannies
i just try to play the best version according to what i can afford and how serious i take the game.
I remember a friend loaning me a disk drive and a load of games on disks for my SFC many years ago. It was a who's who of SFC games with many dozens besides that I could never have afforded on cart. I hated it. I got little enjoyment from games that I had really been looking forward to playing and gave it back the next day. I remember looking at the box with all the disks in and it all feeling pretty souless.
We all tried it ,some like it some dont but if your into arcade games and you should just get some boards mame is a pain in the **** as you spend so much time fiddleing with it and hoping from game to game ,com to think of it i nearly spend as much time messing with my cabs than playing now
nothing better than having some game that you played as a kid hooked up in your cab at home !
<trk>:I remember catching a big fat one and my friend said "throw it back in, that one already tastes like wood"
I used to hammer neorageX when it first appeared all that time ago, I totally fell for the neo-geo big time.
Then recently I got an awave cab, mamed it and played some of the neo magic, then I got a 4 slot and it just looks better, and you know you won't get any dodgy pc related issues!
And as said on this thread previous switching a cab on and watching a pc load takes away some of the magic

I should put up a video of my Mame cab booting up. It's nearly transparent, you get some white text from the bios screen (which now that I'm thinking about it, I might be able to hide) then you see the mouse and the start bar for a moment before the game you last played begins booting up. I don't want to get rid of the mouse and start bar because I often have to go into windows to do stuff, and it's not too distracting. It does take a good 30 seconds or so longer than if I were booting up a PCB though.
I think that's why I stick with Mame. Turning into a collector would probably ruin my life, but I know if I started buying PCBs I would start wanting the art, then the boxes, then the pcb feet and original plastic bag
I do like MAME but I agree with what others have said - it just doesn't feel authentic. It's not that the emulation is bad - it's just you know you're not playing the real thing. Even cleverly hidden operating system and nice frontends can't make you escape the reality that you're not playing the real thing.
MAME is great though because you can have a ridiculous amount of games at your finger tips, all in a convenient list you can select from. Also, its ever evolving so it's a great hobby for continually developing stuff!
To me, you should have a bit of both - or at least, thats what I do!

I agree. It's handy for playing games before you splash out without any idea, or that you are having trouble getting.
