have emailed them, will see what they say. i connected the monitor up to a mame motherboard today and the result was the same, so at least i know it is a monitor problem and not the neoGeo motherboard thats at fault.grantspain wrote:of course the cheapest thing to do is send it to http://www.giz10p.co.uk" for repair

Re: 2 cabinets, 2 monitor problems, but same problem.
have been playing around again - one thing i have noticed that puzzles me is that when it is showing the white checkerboard pattern on the test screen, adjusting the horizontal position to the furthest left means that the blue edge to the checkerboard is still at the screens edge, whereas if i adjust it to the furthest right it will go, the blue edging is about 2-3 inches inside the screen - not sure if that offers any pointers as to what is wrong??
When positioned correctly the checkerboard is pretty much the same size as the screen, only a little larger.
(sorry about the crappy picture quality...)

Well, the Mushi problem has been solved - i took the monitor out so i could get a better look at it and fannied around with the settings again. nothing worked until i made an adjustment to the horizontal hold - the tiniest of tweaks and the bright area to the right of the screen straightened out into the bit that had been missing! I had figured all along that it was a problem with the size of the screen, it didnt occur to me that the horizontal hold could be the problem. At least that is done.
Have taken the Lordsvale monitor up to a big amusement machine company in london who have checked it out and say that amongst its problems it has a crack in the chassis and some of the components are on the way out. they have given me a written quote of £45 + VAT to get it all fixed and working 100% so im happy with that, will have to pick it up in a couple weeks because i am off for a well deserved holiday in Monaco this weekend.
Thank for all the advice, hopefully everything will be sorted out ok... now i need to find a place that sells 14" monitors for one of my other cabs - anyone any idea?

horizontal can cause all sorts of problems with positioning, normally a minute amount of adjustment
45+vat is a good price for repair

Well, on the way back from a very nice holiday in Dorset (no Monaco due to the Channel Tunnel fire) I decided to pick the monitor up - the total charge turned out to be just over £44 in the end, a little less than i had been quoted! Took it home and plugged it in and everything is great - the width problems are solved, and the picture looks a lot better adjusted than when i had been using it befor, despite all my messing with it to get it right.
i didnt have a chance to discuss what hed been wrong with it as i just wanted to get home, but i guess everything has been sorted, and the tech who did the job put some stickers on it with initials/service date etc.
All in all, a very good experience - the company are http://www.eurocoin.co.uk/, who appear to be a big company who mainly deal in casino installations, based just off the M25 in North London (Barnet) - and i can certainly recommend them to anyone who needs machines or monitors servicing, the service i had from initial contact to picking the machine up was spot-on...
