Paulie, Soldering talk: I'm looking to replace my cheapo Antex. Any particular reason you went Metcal over Hakko? What model(s) of Hakko were you looking at? Would you make the same choice now?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good quality drill bit set? I have some bolts on a NAC that need drilling out unfortunately and the bits I have are struggling to do the job.

Soldering, specifically DEsoldering, I picked up a Hakko FR301 this week and WOW what an absolute game changer, I highly recommend!

It makes light work of removing components with perfectly clean contacts remaining

I personally use a direct tip soldering iron heats up to 300c in less than 10 seconds uses T12 tips Chinese copy of a Hakko even takes the same tips.

For solder I use SRA made from pure metals non recycled.

Total cost with stand less than £70 with 10 different T12 tips.
