That Chinese L has very different inner componets compared to the ones described in the Taito Parts catalog.crunchywasp wrote:There's an old thread here re a Chinese L from Coinopexpress...

I have got one coming from neo, they have told me it's a sharp screen inside. I'll see if I can find the email.cRacKh0rN wrote:They say Vewlix L on the header but the Taito name is not mentioned anywhere... I have emailed them to ask.ArcadeSTG wrote:That picture looks like a clone to me. For instance, the real ones have differences on the control panel (the place where you keep the ashtray and the coin slot) and the front legs are also different.cRacKh0rN wrote:So are the ones on Neolegend clones?
There is one one Coinopexpress that looks pretty close to it http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/m ... _7872.html"
Here it is:
Dear tart41,
Hi,
Now all japanese vewlix are made in China, the first "made in japan" models are not still available.
We directly work with the manufacturer, so we order our own configuration with new Sharp no lag HD monitor,
double player with 8 buttons panel, and JAMMA and JVS combined system. The goal is to get a more flexible cabinet for any type of use.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Please send me your email with all your informations for the invoice.
Thanks.
Raph.

Re: Vewlix questions
Nice one. That would explain the 1080p screen.tart31 wrote:

It would be great to see how it performs once it arrives. Which model did you go for?

Re: Vewlix questions
Just the plain L. I think they start looking a bit like "made at home" with some of the colours they have to offer
. I'll post some pics and my thoughts when I get it. It won't be for a couple of weeks yet

Re: Vewlix questions
It would be great to get some shots or video of the monitor and the model if it really can handle 1080p.tart31 wrote:Just the plain L. Also to see if the internals are from Taito or not.
In a previous post Cell's Chinese Vewlix had completely different internals that a regular Vewlix -
It also had a SAMSUNG Panel - LTA320AP02 - 1366x768, same resolution as the original Vewlix monitors
it apprently played great all the same.
Maybe these 1080p panels are the new generation of the TX3/PS4/Xbone age?

Re: Vewlix questions
I just got this reply from Robin @ Neo
I must admit, I am a little confused because my knowledge of scalers isn't great. Does this mean that it can accept a 1080p source and scale down? Seems strange to have the ability to scale up to 1080p but have a 720p input?Hi Dave,
The input is true 720p. The monitor Scales automatically to 1080p on Xbox 360 or other sources by DVI but the image is crisp and clear on this Sharp monitor!
The 15kHz si provided by a litlle video converter inside the cab.

Re: Vewlix questions
Without the exact monitor model number everything's a guess - but of course if you input 720p you can NEVER get out higher than 720p - it can upscale a 720p image to 1080p but it's still just 720p and some fancy processing to estimate what each extra pixel is - and it might be wrong!...up scaling old boards / consoles to LCD monitors can look awful.cRacKh0rN wrote:I just got this reply from Robin @ Neo

I'd expect a 1080p monitor can take a 1080p input with no problems, but again it's a guess.
As for "True 720p Input" errr someone likes adding marketing buzz words there I think...

Re: Vewlix questions
I've been looking for a Vewlix for awhile. No luck in the USA, so I bought a NAC (which I love). The NeoLegend site is awesome. Great to see those different Vewlix models.
Being in the USA, I practically have zero options. I was told by importer that he stays away from HD cabs because the monitors are crap.
Hearing about that new Sharp Monitor sounds promising.
Any tips on getting a Vewlix (sharp monitor) in the US? The importing fees are a killer!
Thanks.

Re: Vewlix questions
Those etched card reader covers on Atomiswave 1P panels?
Nah, no ideas. I love how they're fully custom bits that just bolt in though. Shame the Taito serial plates are riveted on

They look like they fit to that raised block for RFID near the coin slot.
