[quote="chubsta"]And now some work on the legs - love that Nitromor stuff!!

Stings a bit if you get it on you though :( What have you used to 'chop' the legs/covers down?

looks sexy. If I had one I'd just get a really high stool instead of chopping it down

Yeah, i got a SD and a stand-up but these chop downs are a bit low for me tbh, although if i could find some of those lovely SEGA stools i'd maybe appreciate sitting down more, although i prefer standing up to play shmups tbh just feels better. :?

Aldi have got a special on 'dermel-alikes' at the moment - £15 for the unit itself, and an incredible £2-odd for a box set of all the bits you are likely to need. Although i have a drmel i bought a few sets from aldi and it is just as good as the real thing....

I think B&Q do a cheap and cheerful mitre saw for £30 or so. Probably worth getting for the convenience and the fact that you will end up needing it for something else at one point!

I got mine from B&Q - they do two. Dont get the cheap black plastic one as its not wide enough for the naomi legs to sit on the cutting platform so you have to prop them up either side (Like I have to do).
2 * Vewlix Diamond Blacks,2 * Vewlix-F, 1 * Sega Rally 3, 1 * Video Pinball, 1 * DinoKing (JAMMA Converted).

Just wanted to say, really nice work! You've done a great job cleaning it up.
I'm looking to get one of these from Andy Andy Geezer Services after I get married in May. They are great looking cabs.

Chubstas new Naomi restoration project - it LIVES!!

Post by chubsta »

Thanks for all the nice comments guys! Not much left to do, finally fitted a mame-pc this morning, so am just waiting for some clips to cover the screws on the monitor surround, a new toplight, and for Gremlin to ship my damn buttons and joystick

here is a picture of a living, breathing mame machine :D (the screen is a lot better than the picture shows...)

C2D E8400 @ 3ghz
4gb ram
160gb sata hd
bog standard mobo

nothing too flash but it does the job

I actually removed this setup from my astro so will be getting a new one to fit into that, will probably go for the same spec as it plays pretty much everything i throw at it (im more into 70/80s games than anything else). The mobo i have runs soft15khz so i havent bothered with a graphics card.

xp64 and a 64bit mame via mgalaxy frontend. Ive heard vista should give a 10% speed increase but i might leave this one as it is and put vista on the next one.

Same here - I'm not convinced about the Vista increase TBH, but if you can verify this down lthe line - I'd be interested in your opinions.

I'm using xp64 because my mobo tops out at 2Gb RAM

Awesomeo! I'd love a Naomi as a Mame and chop down project cab aswell, but the going rates here in Germany are insane while Redstallone's Chop Down sold at only 270 euros, DANG! :( Anyway, keep us posted with ALOT OF PICS you hear? :awe:
