I’ve got 2 Loft spaces (I floored both) & a cupboard under the stairs :)

The hoarding is gradually coming to an end. I’m selling off most things, just keeping the essentials 1995-2003 shmups & fighters. I am hoarding art books, posters & flyers now though :awe:

I was like that, too - I used to use 3 full hadou bombs on it (I'd save every bomb I had from the start of the game back then), but then got better at shmups :p Having burners and cannon helps to take it out a bit better, as does getting used to the game (pink and blue bullets, fire and crap - hard to read till you are used to it).

I try to avoid bombing the first form until it spews **** at me (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't - if it doesn't, I can take it out by hand), using a hadou if possible - I usually lose a life or two on this boss which lets me bomb again when the flak gets too much. Nice thing is you'll get tons of roses to take the rank down from all the cancelled bullets :p

I can only get to stage 4 sometimes, and have never beaten the boss. I really, really want to play stage 5, but refuse to put in more than 1CC on any game, ever. Oh, and I don't suicide and I collect every fricking power up going (sometimes because new powerups will give you a flicker of invincibility, destroy enemies and release more powerups - doesn't work when you collect a powerup that only gives you points, caouse you've already got it :{)

I had another go, and while it was certainly better then my first attempt, I don't think it's for me. I'll put it up for sale this week, I would keep it longer, but I need to pay back my CC for my previous purchases so I'm unwilling to hold onto it "just in case".

Mine's still in the loft. Never played it & had it for over a year now.

Good job. I think last time I had this my high score was just over 7 million.... although it may have been 700,000 :awe:

Keep at it, level 3 is awesome.

I like it because it is different from the other cave games. It's a great fun to play, especially with 2 players.

I only sold it because I didn't have a cab to play it on. I'm not really one for hoarding or collecting.

Theres some nice tips on the System page. Thanks for the info http://world-of-arcades.net/Cave/Ibara/System.htm
You can increase your autofire rate by tapping button A as fast as you can. The highest frequency that you achieve will become your autofire rate.
How the hell you do find out about that?
When you've lost your last ship it will explode leaving many power-up icons as well as a full bomb icon before displaying the Continue screen. And as it is possible to still generate points during your ship's death animation, expert players have utilised a technique to exploit this. An example of this would be if you have a score of 3.95 million with no extra ships, unleash a Hadou Cannon against a boss, and then suicide. During the death animation of your ship, your score will be ticking up from the damage caused by the Hadou Cannon. And if the score reaches four million before your ship actually explodes, you will be able to collect a full bomb icon, as well as the 20 small fragments that you would normally receive. However, if you time it wrong, and haven't generated the extend before the ship explodes then it will be GAMEOVER. So this is quite an expert strategy.
Remind me of Outrun, running out of time just before a checkpoint but having enough inertia to cross the line and get an extend.

Mod mode: I merged some posts from the sale thread

Blame jpj. His score encouraged me, then the game brought me back to reality.

I'm strugling with the tank things that give 4 medals & a bomb. I keep blowing them up before I can get the wheels off :(

I think that happens in crapple garegga and crapple bakraid too.
It does indeed. It's a proper oldskool Raizing trademark, just like the insane rank system (firing a single bullet increases rank? OH RIGHT), fractional bomb powering up, missing a set number of power-ups giving a homing special power up and three-options.

I suck at scoring with Ibara (mainly 'cause I barely make it to stage 3 when I'm bombing all over the shop), best score is somewhere in the order of 2mill :{ I need to tate the Egret II and give this some more lovin', tbh.

I'm similar to chi by the sounds of things. L3 / 4 if preserve bombs & a score 1.7m

If I go bomb crazy 1.9m & die on the L2 boss :?

Thanks for the tip jpj. I've tried bombing the tanks, but I still don't seem to get a full bomb. I guess I should stop shooting like the large buildings in Level 1 until they explode due to the bomb? If it works I should breeze L2 as I only really need to Hadu the first form of the boss.

To kern, on L1 wait until the big buildings (that are full of medals x9 I think) are 1/3+ on the screen then bomb & move to the other side & shoot or stop shooting all together. Just continue to bomb everytime a bullet gets near. That makes sure you get the medals from the buildings. I can get up to 7k medals by the end of Level 1 & areound 1.1m points on a good run.

Incidentally, destroying things with the aura effect (the fractional second of invulnerability when you collect a new power up) counts as if you'd destroyed it with a bomb for power ups and medalling purposes.

Anecdotally (i.e. in my experience, so I could be **** wrong), it damages stuff in the same way as bombing directly over something does (you can destroy a building with a single bomb fragment if you are overhead) - i.e. lots.

No disagreements there. If you are picking up three or four powerups over a boss, that'd be much like dropping three or four partial bombs on it - muchos carnage. Many a time I've killed a boss by collecting powerups over it.
