Windy II’s next.

Nothing massive to be honest.

I’ve put a 1p CP on it, and I’ve changed the fan in the PSU to a Noctua so it runs quietly now.

All it needs is a little bit of chassis work (I’m looking at you @grantspain , I’ll be in touch again soon :shifty: ) and I’m going to get the CP surround and the monitor surround resprayed, and it’ll be perfect.

It’s wasted as a tri-sync in tate though. I need a nice 15kh tate cab to complete the line up and then I can use the Windy II for AW stuff among other things…

Hmmmmm…

I’ve got an idea in my head, but a) I haven’t quite worked out how I’m going to make it work, and b) I think it might be a step too far away from authenticity…

I have a 1p panel on the U4, and so the 2p start button is redundant.
I’ve also always wanted a more elegant way to adjust the volume.
I’m thinking about putting an amp in there, with a dial in place of the 2p button.
Would need the black strip reprinting too so that volume is labelled instead of ‘2p Start’.

Or maybe I should just stop messing about with it.

I'd be a bit adverse to putting anything on a control panel myself that wasn't in an arcade originally, ruins the magic a little bit.

I did see a friend recently repurpose a cam lock hole under the control panel on his blast as a power button, thought that was really smart. Wonder would something like that work as a hole for your volume dial?

I'm fairly sure ive seen it added to the 2p side or something similar on loads of cabs before .

although mostly paired with a headphone jack

A Diamond Blue, and wait for 32” OLEDs to become a thing, or a second Windy II 🤔

The correct answer is always 'more cabinets' :D

I'd actually be trying to chose between getting another Windy or going with a different style of cabinet. Variety being the spice of life and all that!

So, the reasoning behind it is that I currently have the Windy II tate, but that means the 31kHz element is effectively useless, and it’d be fun to have MS6 in a cab next to my Electrocoin that has all of the MVS MS games in it…

All the MS arcade iterations in one place is the dream.

I’d actually reaaaally like an SNK Candy to use as a tate cab, and it’d look fun next to the U4… but alas, you won’t sell me yours, @o1s1n  :shifty:

The Diamond Blue fits the colour scheme of the U4 and Windy II, and has massive utility beyond the JAMMA stuff…

Oh you've a blue Windy II don't you? yeah the blue theme across all the cabinets would look really nice alright. I'm not up on LCD cabinets at all, hadn't a bean that a 'Diamond Blue' was a Vewlix!

All six MS games in a 6 slot MVS board in an Electrocoin is the dream alright - I was originally going to do that with my SNK Candy years back. Had all six games, a 6 slot - but the 6 slot board just would not fit into the candy! Thing was a monster.

Vewlix is cool as long as you swap out that Wei-ya PSU :awe:

LCD is good if you just don't care that much any more after doing it all & want something simple

Twins would be great, but I have these weird issues with Batrider on the Windy.

viewtopic.php?p=553696&hilit=Batrider+Windy#p553696

As that’s my prized PCB, I’d like it to work as intended, and I guess there’s at least a chance it’d have the same issues on a different Windy.

Annoying because the cab has no issues with anything else, and the PCB works great in other cabs and in my supergun.

I’ve done it all wrong really… the ideal setup is a 31kHz yoko, a 15kHz tate, and a Neo Geo… Three cabs to cover all bases.
Now I’ve got two Neo cabs I can’t part with, there has to be a fourth of some description.

Then, I can be truly done. Until one dies, and I inevitably go the Vewlix route

You don't need the Wei-ya PSU for anything if you already have a CRT cab. It's just for legacy JVS stuff and who would want to play any of that on a LCD?

Viewlix cabs have always been ugly to me, I don't see the point of having those in the home when most own a bigger/better TV. Even if it runs DVI only you can still use a breakout cable for HDMI I'm guessing for 1080p/60 on an OLED. I suppose I will forever see cabs as having CRT monitors everything else seems silly to me I'd rather sit on a couch than have my **** chapped from candy stools playing Street Fighter for 3 hours. Would never trade a proper cab off for a Viewlix like going from a classic car to electric.
