Only time I have played my sons Xbox or ps3 was to try a cave game recently, quite like fifa and tiger was fun for a while, don't get the rest,
I realise by the hyper attitude on this thread that I might have missed something, what was it ?
What's the ability of being able to "afford" one thing, the reason for choosing or being excited about another thing?
I've a fully gooned up PC that has a processing and gfx core that could fly me to the moon and back...... doesn't and hasn't meant that I'm not getting consoles. For starters a PC is a total compromise of an instant gaming device...... and by on large gaming devices that don't crash, concern the user with having drivers up to date and or conflicts with other things.... and "just works". Being a fixed environment has massive advantages from a general gamer perspective.
Fagin you ain't owned a computer for a few years if you are having issues with games ?
Nothing wrong with owning a console, my son has 2, and I get the fifa game as it would be harder to control on a pc.
But I was after what makes a console so good that people rave about it, not just fan boys like the red knight, ( who looks better in photographs than real life to be fair, got any of your boyfriend too ? )

Is that a statement or are you asking the question - as I own a powerful PC now.

Weird considering your initial comment..... you do realise that XBOX and PS3 controllers work on the PC yeah?

Because for the majority of the gaming community it makes perfect sense..... for some of the reasons I explained previously.
Is there certain games that are awesome on the console, I.e I get cave games, and being able to play them on a 360, but coming from a pc background for quite a few years, I prefer most games like cod etc on the pc because of the graphics and prefer mouse and keyboard .
But I loved the megadrive for games like sonic etc,
I am not a big footy fan so although I understand it must be great to play on a console, it's not my cup of tea.
What top games lend themselves to a console over pc, as I will no doubt have access to the new consoles thru my son and would like to utilise it.
I already know there must be something coz so many peeps buy them, I just want to gauge if the types of game would suit me?

, reason I am getting more into arcade games is coz I don't see many games I want to play on my PC, but don't know or see much on console either, but hope someone will suggest something, also son is getting gta so will take a look.
It's mainly for the console exclusive games innit. I agree about the keyboard and mouse - but that was in a time when FPS games were primarily designed for k&m and required quick accuracy. They're usually designed around a useless analogue nub now so you're not missing out anything by using a joypad.
The PS4 is expensive but let's face it, a "gamers PC" costs triple. Graphics comparison is arguable, but only top end PCs win. And a top end PC by definition is one that's upgraded regularly, which is a hobby in itself.
Though I kind of share your view. All my modern games are either on PC or WiiU. That's due to taste. I generally like colourful and surreal happy games. Yeah, if I do want a fix of brown, I can get it on PC. But if I wanted a lot of it, PS4 or XBone is a no-brainier.
Launch games are historically (mostly) ****. Without a killer game, the only reason to buy a console at launch is if you're a fan of a company. I am as much a fan of my PS3 as I am a generic bluray player.
I was just going to say I quite like the look of Knack, and then I googled it. Looks like all their energy went on a bunch of almost-Dreamworks videos.

By the way, have you seen how much we spend on **** old games?
Went to Eurogamer Expo today and after being in line for roughly 45mins to play on some PS4 games, I spent all of about 5 mins inside the PS4 area. Every single title playable looked less interesting than what was on offer in terms of upcoming PS3 releases, and none offered any noticable graphical advancement nor gameplay twist, they could have all been PS3 games easily. At least the new titles on offer for the Vita appeared to showcase what that console can do moreso than ever before, but after seriously being excited about the upcoming next gen, it was seriously a let down. I can actually see a scenario playing out whereby the 360 and PS3 continue to live on after the release of these new consoles.

That's a real shame. Let's hope the situation improves when the launch titles are out of the way.
