The people that work for amazon can be so stupid.

Here's a fragile item, theres a box. It almost fits, **** it force it in and smash lots of paper on top.

Result, the record is as bent as the pic :palm:

Are all records total static magnets?

Obviously the first thing I bought, before a single record was 50 polly sleeves to keep future records in :awe:

Do you have a link to the inner selves?

Also, anyone suggest some good, in print albulms? It's a total head **** looking through the million versions of every LP t find the right or even a decent one.

That flaming lips album sounds great btw.

Technical question, when the needle hits the outer grooves, there's a kind of low roaring through the speakers. It goes away when the music starts, is that normal? I'm worried the arm isn't set up 100%

I use Mobile Fidelity inner sleeves. It's a bit fiddly getting them in the outer sleeve with everything else but they're a quality product. I also have a Blue Horizon record brush and a Milty Zerostat if a record has a particular static problem. You might also want an Onzow Zerodust to keep your stylus clean. Props to kern for that one.

On every LP? They should vary. Some have a completely silent run in, some have some surface noise depending on age/quality of the pressing.

The Mobile Fidelity Pixies pressings are ace.

I didn't see any tools :( anti-skate dial is set to about 1.8-1.9

This says 9g, which can't be right? http://ortofon.com/hifi/products/cartri ... intet-blue

Thanks Kern, quite a lot to learn.

I've upped the anti skating to 2.1. The manual says 2.1-2.5 and the recommended is 2.3g

The VTA is done with a screw, 0.5g per turn. I assume it's alright as it was a dealer that set it up, but I cant actually see the weight.

The cart looks perfectly parallel when playing.

The gyrodec really is beautiful :fastlove:

Great album too. It's ridiculously thick. They have high violet (the violet ed) in fopp for £16. My mate is picking it up for me on Friday :)

The coloured vinyl is apparently a lot better than the black pressings.

Also, that brush is bloody brilliant. static be gone
