Oi kern, do any of the early Smiths compilations/EPs have the Manchester version of This Charming Man on them?

The Manchester version is the popular version that was added to their first album with later issues, not the one on Hatful (which I have on CD).

That's the thing with The Smiths, a lot of their best stuff isn't on the albums. I think I'll have to get the 12" single for that. Great band to collect though, most of the covers follow the same theme and they won't break the bank either. I got an EX/NM first press of their first album for £19 off ebay!

Rega and Project both offer a great TT for every budget.

I take back what I said about the Bjork vinyl. Two are going back with noisy surface marks I can't remove

Good god have you ever heard such a load of old horse **** as this? Unbelievable!
Hello,

While these releases are intended to be enjoyed primarily as collectors items (and come with download codes), we’ve worked with our pressing plant to ensure our coloured vinyl is of the very highest quality it can be. That said, it must be noted that audio pressed on non-black vinyl is susceptible to higher surface noise levels, this is because darker colours are denser and their pigments reflect sound better then lighter colours. Minor blemishes and colour variations are also a known issue, but should not have any impact on the audio reproduction.

Thanks,

One Little Indian

A look on the Steve Hoffman forums and it seems I'm not the only one with dodgy bjork vinyl. Their excuse seems to be that they're for collectors and not playing. Wow.

I know picture discs are prone to sound issues, but never heard anything about it for coloured ones.

Several tracks sound like a bowl of coco pops. All my other coloured vinyl sounds as good as the black stuff.

I've never had problems with my coloured vinyls. What's the point of collecting vinyl that's not for listening?

I've heard of issues with sound on certain coloured vinyl but iirc these where "glow in the dark" and surface noise was pretty bad so the supplier offered 180g std black vinyl with it as well ,"one for playing one for collecting" but again it didnt affect other pressings as much doing similar
"non-black vinyl is susceptible to higher surface noise levels, this is because darker colours are denser and their pigments reflect sound better then lighter colours."
that sounds a bit horse pooey , i would believe it more if he said "because of the chemicals etc we add to achieve such affect "but it dont know if the quality is that bad they should be looking at a different supplier

Someone spotted those on another forum. A real bargain.

EDIT: Scrap that, they're ex-demo and dog rough.

I got a pair of open box stands for my Q1200's from them.

Thankfully they were in mint nick. I need to find some sand stuff or whatever it is they use to fill them now.

They don't make poncy sand for a signature sound that is edgy yet ultimately relaxed and suited to your hectic lifestyle do they? :awe:
