Just a little update to where i'm at with this long winded project!!...
Still not sprayed the final part!..although i have another litre of paint now, also grabbed some 'Fast' Hardener ..as ambient temp has recently took a nosedive...
So you need this.
After the initial problems fixed on the monitor chassis..& when it was checked & operation was excellent

, i was going to leave it there...
but i decided to replace 'suspect' looking Cap's on the chassis..& give it a once over again,
especially the neckboard..as its a bit of a PITA to get to if in the future i needed to ( Monitor) out mission
again.
And i noticed on some caps the plastic sheathing was kinda stretched/ misshaped ..maybe like a hot failing cap scenario

..
So i got on the blower to Farnell electronics & RS components and ordered exactly what i needed..some quality Capacitors to exacting specs..
I selected Nichicon & Panasonic..of like for like, some were stocked others were ordered online, a few days later nice padded bags arrived full of lovely Cap's!..& another little job to be steadily carried out on the bench.
Look Joe!...That rubber matting came in TOPS for the chassis work!
On the Bench!.

Well..its getting closer to Xmas, Lads.. if your other half is stuck for things to buy for you this year? then i recommend you buy one of these de-soldering stations!..make things loads easier & clinical...my old mechanical desoldering sucker was a little impractical at times & when things get close on the pcb, you need something like this!.

Lets crack on!!
Don't forget your anti static gloves!.

Quick & clean with this tool..

Nice & relaxing eve doing this..better than watching that twaddle on telly!...just radio & heater for company.
One down..

Seat your Cap & bend pins to hold it for you like this..

These smaller caps..put your bend in to match hole & stop a 'stress' bend...nice & uniform, here~

Nichicon city!!..
There are only four 'cylinder' type capacitors on the neckboard..TF.
Finished~ as good as new again!

Remainder of the Caps left on the chassis itself were replaced, although some looked to have been getting warm 'plastic sheath shift etc'..corrosion on the top 'alloy' part etc.
When i tested them
none of them were open circuit or shown peculiar readings etc, all were disscharged & recharged with the multimeter..reading's sweep uniform until peak.
But i think they had long enough service & it was time to replace them
When i first got the cab & was stripping & getting it working first i did find one cap that had been knocked & a leg pulled out..sorted...amongst other faults mentioned ages ago.
Hitachi GMK 29FJ Goodness!!

THE YOKE is a touch off...but its staying in, for now 'monitor'.
Right now i'm very happy how this is coming together , finally...really looking forward to the end result!
The rest i will dial in on the remote adjustment board...and 'focus' on the flyback etc.
Mobile phone photo's do the screen image no favours at all, but the picture is amazing! & i'm kinda like!

This....my
first junker candy from a very long absence..has rekindled my arcade 'Lust' .. its great to be back!
I think the days are long gone of me finding a candy cab that simply just wants a strip and 'clean'..!!

Currently restoring... The Titanic.
