Re: Random Thoughts
Genuinely fascinated that back in the 80s Python was translated/dubbed for the Japanese but even more surprised that the humour carried across.
Brilliant stuff. It really is a spectacular franchise.
I’m sure most people here are aware, but if not then keep an eye out for Black Finger Jet.
A spiritual successor to the MS Franchise with many of the original team including Akio.
There’s so much depth to this series. I’ve just bought a book called ‘Daydream Note’ that apparently heavily inspired the look of the first couple of games.
Worth a google if you’re a MS nerd.

Re: Random Thoughts
Yeah Miyazaki's machine designs definitely inspired a lot of the Metal Slug look. You can see it in the likes of Nausica. Same as all the IREM stuff from that period, like In The Hunt, Gunforce 2 etc, all have that heavy, rounded, super detailed dirty looking machines and enviornments.
I haven't actually seen that Daydream Note book before, will pick it up, thanks!
You've also bit of Masamune Shirow in there too with the Slug tank designs and his designs in Dominion: Tank Police.
Has the little rotating machine gun on the back and everything.

Yes, I think all of Japans action 90s can be traced back to that and Laputa. The airships, trains and tanks are recurring in everything, Final Fantasy being one of the more obvious ones.

Re: Random Thoughts
I've found that since the covid lockdowns ended and we've all started mingling again, everyone seems to be perpetually sick from September through to February.
I used to get a virus once a year at most (some years none at all) but now I'm actually getting multiples in a year. (Had one in October and then one in December)

Yeah, we had that here too.Pete wrote: February 26th, 2025, 11:02 am Has anyone else had this super cold that's been coming & going for about a month now everyone at work included it comes it goes...
Me and my daughter had fever for 7+ days each (not at same time). Turns out it was both Streptococcus and Mycoplasma at same time. With the right antibiotics, we got healthy again very fast (fever was gone within 24h)
Relevant part of doctors letter confirming this from the tests:
Recurring infections of both of these are a thing iirc so once it gets going… yeah.
The most common antibiotics used here (Fenoximetylpenicillin) did not work for me first, since it does not work on mycoplasma. Had to get some other one after a few days that worked great

Re: Random Thoughts
A question for all you Egret 2 owners & with Daryl over Vac chatting about his with SF on his I've never really thought as it been a fighting game cab or is it correct me if I'm wrong.
Always thought of it been a Puzzle Bobble/Shooting cab.

Taito's game centers in Japan also have fighting games on Egret 2s. Even UMK3.
