Yeah i saw some evangelion and transformers pachinkos that are just amazing dioramas, tons of mechanical features and compressed air and spectacular lightshows, would draw alot of attention for sure.
Gameplay wise theyre still just watching metal balls randomly plink down spikes tho...

Re: Random Thoughts
I dunno, when there are so few samples it's very easy to over predict based on a couple of sales. I think it's more a case of inflation being exaggerated. It's never a safe assumption.
For example I'm sure Battle Garegga would get at the very least a grand GBP, which is still high compared to only a few years ago.
I reckon on a graph of average price increase there'd be (and will continue to be) a slow unspectacular upward trend, with a bit of a lockdown lump rather than a spike.
Also JPY is cheap. Tops is often cheaper than western hobbyist prices these days even after fees, which is ridiculous really.

Re: Random Thoughts
I don't think the bubble is about to burst or anything, but things have slowed for sure. People don't have the same amount of disposable income to spaff on silly hobbies in general. Pubjoe is right, furlough did the opposite.

Re: Random Thoughts
I think I have the dubious honour of ‘most paid’ for a Batrider PCB not too long ago, but sadly cost of living has battered me and four figure PCBs are now simply out of reach.
There have been a couple of In The Hunt boards come up recently at decent prices, and while I’d love one it’s just not the right time.
Nothing significant has changed for me, beyond mortgage rates and general cost of living, so I’d imagine the majority of people will be in the same boat?
I wonder if the price of cabs will change much?
While I couldn’t justify a four figure PCB anymore, I feel like I’d still be able to come to terms with spending that on a large, tangible beast like a cab.
Both are still valuable ‘assets’, but I feel like a cab is a less ‘frivolous’ purchase than spending the same on a single game.

Re: Random Thoughts
You can also fix a cabinet fairly easily if something breaks down, worst comes to worst, chassis comes out and off for repair.
A few years ago I started to get wary and anxious about dropping larger and larger sums on PCBs that are only getting older and closer to their day of demise. Just seem like expensive ticking time bombs.

Feels now that I've done that with R-Type, and it doesn't work properly.ChrisBEANS wrote: August 25th, 2023, 4:01 pm I think I have the dubious honour of ‘most paid’ for a Batrider PCB not too long ago

Re: Random Thoughts
I bought it a couple of years ago from Yahoo Auctions. Played okay at first, then insert coin stopped working, and before very long (maybe with operation heat) the graphics begin to corrupt. Iirc correctly the dip switch settings get messed up too.
I've been away from home and unable to check it over properly. Moving back now so I'll depress myself with it again soon. I'll probably send it to Vectorglow.

Re: Random Thoughts
That sounds very fixable. I have a broken one which makes your ship explode randomly after the board warms uppubjoe wrote: August 26th, 2023, 9:48 am I bought it a couple of years ago from Yahoo Auctions. Re: Random Thoughts
I have no idea. Actually I've oversimplified the description. After running a short while it sometimes brought up error RAM NG 4 on a restart. It does a few weird random things. Freezing, suddenly filling up with credits, and iirc the corrupt graphics were solid (game logic applied) so I'm not sure if it's just a graphics memory issue despite the error code indicating it as such.zak wrote: August 26th, 2023, 1:05 pmThat sounds very fixable. I need to investigate it once I'm able. I contacted Vectorglow before and he was happy to take a look. It was hard to even know where to start explaining the problems and tbh I'm a bit worried the temperamental nature will make it a time sink. Anyway, once I've finished moving I'll have an evening observing **** R-Type to look forward to.
