Sadly, that’s mine…

Real nice condition MX8000, scooped up for a mere thirty quid. Absolute result!

However, on collection, the tiny bloke who sold it to me offered to help me lift it to the car.

Like an absolute **** I said ‘no thanks’, picked it up from the floor, and as I did so I get a blinding pain in my back, my vision flashed white, and I got pins and needles down my legs!!!

I knew it was bad, but I was now holding this thing so I waddled it to the car.

Had a thick bath sheet tripled over so that I could lay it safely screen down for the journey home.

However, as I reached the car boot I realised that the screen was facing me and I’d need to flip it.

I was in absolute agony, and trying to hide it from the seller, so I just lowered it in, screen up, waved goodbye and drove off.

I was intending to stop and sort it but was pretty preoccupied with my back (never had back issues before).

Anyway, going round a roundabout a I hear the crack.

Sad times.

It still works perfectly of course, but once I’ve removed the glass completely it just won’t look as sleek as a B&O should.

Also, seriously… my back!!!!

Fwiw the MX1500 uses a plastic cover and the force of the clips to hold the curve - it's meant as portable so I guess it's more robust (a bit like Nintendo with plastic screen covers). I bet a sheet cut to size would bend perfectly - keep a shard of glass to get the right tint!

Hope you've not done anything permanent to your back.

Chris is now happy but struggling to move even the smallest amount!

Seriously though I hope your back is OK that description of what you felt doesn’t sound very good at all.

Lol, I’m taking painkillers and drinking wine and it’s pretty uncomfortable but bearable.

I don’t think I’ve got away with it being trivial, but I don’t think it’s going to be super serious.

About time I accepted my age and more importantly accepted help carrying heavy stuff!!

Jaysus you poor lad, that's terrible! Hope you're doing alright now this morning. Might need to go for an Xray on that if it persists.

Yeah between arcade machines and CRTs, this really is a bloody heavy hobby :-o - never underestimate the weight of lead & glass!

I've got a few grey tint acrylic samples from when I was making my Ironclad case, happy to send you those to check if any are a match. I can send a couple of photos first if that helps.

You can order a few samples from https://plasticonline.co.uk/material-samples.html and even more from https://www.perspex.co.uk/contact-us/request-a-sample/

Repeating myself from last time but:

Absolutely not. 90%+ of popular games are still common enough to be under £200. Many under £100. Multi, Emulation and FPGA options are as good as perfect and are bringing lots of people into the 'actually playing the games' hobby. Japanese Sega cabs are near enough £1000. Woodies are £400. CRT TVs are still £30.

Maybe not dirt cheap but not crazy. And you know, Freddos are 50p these days.

If the hobby only means satisfying a narrow niche, which must be done so on unmodified original hardware plus a rare Japanese cab for good measure, then that's different. Good luck to you.

The new F1 season looks really interesting.
Alex Albon did some magic in the Williams and Alonso is on fire in the Aston (not literally).

Edit:
After Q2 it's just like last year. Nothing to see here, except Hülkenberg being in the top 10

I hadn't heard of this before. Back from its temporary ban for generating a transgender joke.

Everything you see, hear, or experience (with the exception of the artwork and laugh track) is always brand new content, generated via machine learning and AI algorithms.

 dunno

I couldn't even watch that whole clip tbh, just kinda funny that such things exist.

2m10 did make me snigger after reading the comments. AI George asks about the meaning of life then immediately drowns out AI Jerry's philosophical contemplation by pressing obnoxiously loud buttons on the microwave. Then does a Berthesda across the room.

:-?
