The benchmark specs are what sold me. It's apparently better than my Galaxy Note 3, which I love to pieces as it is. But I really wanted something for PDF's, Plex, magazines etc on the go. 'App' games I don't care for to be honest. The MiPad looks like it can handle Plex, Netflix, Sky Go, PDF's, Juice SSH (well duh), Teamviewer and so on and so forth at a nice rate. That's all I need to be honest.cools wrote:Lovely bit of kit, again a ridiculous price. MIUI is not to my taste though.
Had an iPad, iPad 3 and Nexus 7. All had pro's and cons. 8" format of the MiPad looks to be spot on I think. With the Nexus 7 I was happy enough but the screen size soon felt claustrophobic. 9-10" is a great screen size, but super annoying for the commute. 8, for me at least, seems to be the sweet spot tablet wise. Even had a Galaxy Mega at one point. Which was a great novelty, but utterly annoying as a lifer handset. Same with the Lumia 1520. Had one of those for a while. Just way too big and cumbersome. The camera on it was amazing though. Oddly out of all of the aformentioned, before all of them I got a Kindle 2 (Whispernet), which I still own. I also have a Nook, which FrancoB made me buy when everyone raced to buy one for 5p round about Christmas. Kept that too, it's a top ebook reader. For me, anything non-magazine or textbook (basically anything that warrants a quick flip through.... Razzle for example) is where I'd bring a tablet in to the mix. Everything else is spot on with a dedicated ebook reader. Even though this now means carrying 4 devices (MiPad, Note 3, 3DS XL and the 5p Nook), it's tolerable.
Reckon when the MiPad arrives I'll root it and load up CM or something. Not a fan of the MiUi either to be honest. Reminds me of the Google Now launcher, and that's a pile of big babboons **** too.
