Re: Random thoughts...
The UK is notoriously slow on the uptake (generally speaking these days). Isn't there still a B&W TV license option? The "upscale your content to stunning 8K resolution" ads amuse me. Your average Currys buyer falls for this twaddle as well.

Apparently most people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between 4K from 8K due to human limitationsSuperPang wrote: January 8th, 2019, 5:28 pm The "upscale your content to stunning 8K resolution" ads amuse me. Your average Currys buyer falls for this twaddle as well.

Speaking of Currys.... they have a Samsung 8K something at £14,999.00 lol:

Re: Random thoughts...
na, i`d say with the proper 8k material and one short distance you can see the difference between 4k and 8k. The problem, you won`t be sitting that close to the TV and even worse, where do you want to get any 8k content, beside a few demo clips ? And from what i heared, the Samsung TV has some serious flaws.

Doesn't Japan already broadcast in 8k? I guess the big push comes with the olympic games.

I envy their tech but I don’t envy their living space... watching 8k at arm’s length defeats the point. I wonder what Japan’s average TV size is... it can’t be like ours surely.CTN wrote: January 9th, 2019, 6:09 pm Doesn't Japan already broadcast in 8k? I think it's quite the opposite. The benefit of 8k is the most visible with your nose on the screen.skykappah wrote: January 9th, 2019, 10:16 pmI envy their tech but I don’t envy their living space... watching 8k at arm’s length defeats the point. Re: Random thoughts...
Yet the smaller the TV the less need for 8k because all this (previously FHD) "K" shenanigans is so you don't see pixelation on a large screen, whilst sat about further away. I dunno about you but have you tried going up close to your 4k TV when you have HDR and other filters on? It's weirdly cartoony.
In short I mean there isn't really a benefit in having a small 4k or 8k TV. As you'd need a smaller TV living in modern Japan.

Re: Random thoughts...
afaik the only movie shot in 8K was GoG2, if that. Even is there were, you would not get a proper bit rate, there is no medium to hold that much data and i highly doubt there will be a successor to UHD BD any time soon.

I'm leaving the country for about a year. Should I cut the batteries of my CPS2 games to prevent damage?
