£30-40 for fabrication including drawings is a steal. Looking forward to seeing the finished panel.

re the feet, are they just self-adhesive rubber pads? If so you could peel them off, clean the base up then replace them with these or similar?... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Sticky- ... 0935676656"
Thanks for the comments mate, nice to know I'm not posting for myself to read :D

£30-£40 was a massive surprise! I was suspecting £100 at least and probably would have paid £200+ given the price I paid for the unit!

I got some of those feet and made the mistake of sticking them on before cleaning the base up! I have a stack so shouldn't be a problem.

I went to pick the control panel up and was super impressed when I first saw the re-production.

I got it home and made sure all the screw wholes line and it fits and it does!

The only issue is that the view windows are 35mm to far to the right and the raised bits either side are slightly to wide for the control panel to fit over.

I've driven all the way back with some bits from the M82... They have taken more measurements and will have it ready for me tomorrow...

If you want to see a spoiler of how it looks before the corrections see below... If you'd rather wait for the grand fearnley tomorrow I suggest you don't click :D

Looks a good job, especially for the cost and that's excellent that they're redoing if for you so quickly.

Was the flat blank punched on a turret press?

I have no idea on how they did it, I can ask tomorrow?

I was really pleased with the quality, it looks and feels the same as the original :D

The picture I took was it straight out the workshop and was filthy.

The original is aluminium and so is this and should have a similar finish, however this is unimportant to me, the whole unit will be covered so no to fussed on that... The guy at the workshop said it took him hours! Feel bad for only paying £40 but extremely happy :D

Ahh! My mistake - I just looked at your first post and that particular part doesn't have a finish on it - I had it in my head that it was painted/coated black or summink rather than covered with the plastic parts :palm:

He's probably already chucked out a few flat blanks and amended the drawings umpteen times trying to get it just right for you. He must think you're a right pain in the ****! You should be ridden with guilt! Just kidding :whoopsie:

I really can't wait to see the finished article. I'm thoroughly enjoying your thread :awe:

Just for reference this is the original part that I was having recreated

Image supplied from a fellow M82 owner who was good enough to let me take his the the metal work workshop.

The finish should be the same, the stuff you see in the first thread screws onto this :)

Indeed, I'm not sure what to do about the rotary switch, I might just leave it on unlimited or something like that because I would unlikely use 30 seconds! but I guess it's nice to have it original.

That's the only thing left to do though... The whole unit is now clean bar the bottom of the case which I'll probably have a go at doing tomorrow.

It'll be nice to have it setup in place of my NES and finally play some games on it :D

I've collected the control panel today and i'm happy to say everything fits...

I need to buy some new screws (longer ones for the side and spray the new ones black for the front) but I'll take lots of proper shots of the system when I can stand to look at it again :D

So just as a reminder this is what we started with.

Image

No Control Panel, No Power, Stuck on 30 Seconds timer with a broken rotary switch and sticky tape all over it 8-)

To this

Image

The bezel is slightly to high in this picture due to me not tucking in the ribbon cable (It's red hot here and i've been rushing around like a mad man so couldn't be doing with tidy!).

Again, please ignore the miss match screws and I'll take a load of shots of the finished job ASAP (And possibly a You Tube video).

:D

Edit:

Here's the corrected control panel
