skip mame 'warning' screens

Post by chubsta »

i have got rid of the 'info' screen, is there any way to get rid of the 'this game does not work correctly'/'one or more roms are incorrect' screens as they spoil the whole effect...

Delete the ROMs :D

No, short of recompiling or finding a version with those messages removed, there isn't.

That box doesn't do what you think - it simply tells the compiler to shut up.

You need to apply a diff file, or just edit the source to remove the warnings :)

you can remove the "nag" screens and enable the high score saves using the diff files as cools said. follow the instructions for recompiling carefully applying each diff patch one after the other. I did it with an older version of mame (ver 128)and it works. You prb have these but just in case http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=64298.0

Re: skip mame 'warning' screens - solved

Post by chubsta »

See - its the little details that always screw me up....

I didnt realise that 'apply patch' was a button, i thought it just meant thats where you were supposed to put the patch file and then run the compile

Anyway, ive applied the patch and compiled and the horrible nag screens from marble madness have gone :awe:

cheers for all the help guys, much appreciated!

Distribution of MAME compiles with added/changed content is highly frowned upon by the MAME devs. Be adviced.

Just for us, and will only be available for a short time, File also contains all source code.

Can anyone explain this in simple english? I've got two degrees in computers and still can't figure this sh#t out.

Trying to go from 141 to 141u1 and 141u2, or straight to u2 if it is allowed.

I'm using Mame compiler 64 v1.20

What goes in the MinGW Folder text box?

What goes in the Mame Source Folder text box?

I've downloaded the diff file and the mame source zip file (extracted to a folder).

I've tried everything and can't get the patch to apply.

Text box? IIRC, you're supposed to browse to the diff file. Did you rename it from .txt to .diff (and this might sound silly, but Windows needs to be showing you the extension, so you don't have a "140u.diff.txt" file that the compiler can't "see" ).

The site http://www.headsoft.com.au/index.php?ca ... &page=mc64" even has a screenshot showing file paths etc:

Anything different from your setup?
