Hi,
I recently bought a Windy that has a non original A68KJU96X tube with a MS8-29 chassis out of an Astro City running in it. The seller is willing to change the original Toshiba chassis against the MS8-29.
Since all the neck breaks on the Windy monitors I thought that maybe somebody knows if the Toshiba PB-6643-chassis will run on the A68KJU96X tube?
Is a Windy chassis running on a Astro City tube?

It should. They both take the rodotron 666a which leads me to believe the yoke specs are the same.
No guarantees though.

You're probably going to get size problems.
The 666 chassis are made with large tolerances on them to work on many scan coils, the original chassis they replace aren't..
Also the CRT number has very little to do with if a chassis will work on the tube, a large number of tubes are compatible, its the scan coil that's the issue.

I thought about trying this swap on my Egret 29 (MS8), but ultimately decided against it.
via Jomac:
Yes it will work , but there may be a slight pin cushion issue , also you will need to put a 1K ohm resistor across the Vertical or you will see some tearing ( missing lines ) in the picture.
I would solder this resistor under the chassis itself where the yoke plugs in .
The Toshiba [PB-6643] chassis would connect straight to the MS9-29 Tube but needs the resistor to be used on the MS8-29 tubes as the Yokes are different.

Thanks for your replies, guys! I think I stay with the Nanao-chassis then since the picture is really nice now and I don't want to risk anything. Don't want to be without proper picture ever again...
