Collectors interviews in your part of the world..
so i recently became aware of the French series "collectors quest" which did an amazing trek around japan visiting collectors in its 3rd season.
channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCE9rkL ... WrzV0XNGkA
previous seasons visit french collectors, all in french but i still find it quite entertaining.
Here in Sweden we have exactly that with Gaminggrannar, their collectors series can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCE9rkL ... WrzV0XNGkA
its a looong running series spanning almost a decade.
they also cover events and stuff but all in swedish..
what else is out there? im sure the US must have a similar style series?

Those two last episodes of Collectors quest was insane.
That operators inventory is more than a museum.

Re: Collectors interviews in your part of the world..
Collectors quest is amazing. Once I found out about it I binged all 3 seasons over a few days. The old abandoned French house with all the rare cabs was pretty neat. I was using French auto translation translated into English in the first seasons which was painful. The content in season 3 is the best by far with proper subtitles. The hoarder in his hoarder hole in the first few episodes was quite sad to see. Some of these guys clearly have life issues.
I'm sure most people know about these already but I also watch Game Center CX, Game Chasers, and Last Gamer. Most of the Game Center CX seasons have been fan subbed and put online for free (I've got 23 seasons + the specials).

Re: Collectors interviews in your part of the world..
i dont have time to write a full text, but when things are scarce over-enthusiasm is common... Collector's quest is far from amazing IF you searched before. Most of the people seen there have blogs /twitters since years and been interviewed several times before. Florent gorges knows where to search because he listens to others (but dont thank them). his trips are good when he has the good people. but not good when he doesnt has the level !
Many people would have conducted better ways in these arcades trips. he doesnt know how to dig the interviews because he's not in the arcade area attitude (his main subject is Nintendo). When i see the recent video where he's talking nothing profund on known old sega games and misses the real rares of Bronze age ! that is lack of serious ! he could have put better comments from specialists in the video edit.. but not. don't forget he does that for a living... (the one who paid 12.000€ to join them is another fun thing...)

Joseph Redon by his hard work & followed respect is a masterkey to some there are number of interviews/pics/vids with him and this previous interview is near close to what Florent got... a good overview but not very deep !
http://www.ausretrogamer.com/inside-len ... the-quest/
Kazumi takai & Joseph redon :
Joseph redon & Florent gorges :
and the Paris arcade french world is tiny. The japanese arcade world is certainly deeper & not all would come public (dont forget what they mention sometimes about getting back their pcb/arcades & defendind the japanese secrets or dumped games. how many rare games have been publicly dumped from japanese collectors ? !). like...f*cking VERTEXER ?!? how many Years since no one mentioned this game ?...
Years before it went viral on the arcades groups (except a subtle lost topic on Killercabs, no one mentioned japanese arcade collectors), by example, i talked about Hijiya to one co-owner of Coinoplegacy , he contacted him & that was the first french to be invited. he's even on some pics on Hijiya blog). an example of how, Florent could profit of these tiny relations already made (co-owner coinoplegacy invited florent gorges & met joseph redon in Paris & japan). and it takes few seconds to view Low-san twitter from the other account... Florent is a publisher too & shares his pro-contacts to newcomers who want be edited... but nothing comes free even if he seems friendly.. old pals from french press knew him & his manners... Help from Alex pilot is a good thing too. (fun thing is i never met him, even if he went regularly in my very close neighbourhood 30years ago to see his best pal . "World is a grain of sand")
Building trust is sure not an easy thing and the bonus : his books & japanese knowledge made his key. that was the case too in the past with another group with Yoshihisa Kishimoto , but it went too far yep because some japanese dislike sharing $$$ secrets/prototypes... (and i guess because there was so often yakuza reasons behind arcade business, as in France & other places... i met several known figures, jail time was in their history, and i'm sure some of you around who took arcade trips seriously figure too the kind of people/infamous legends they met).
Arcade is still a "western/farwest/gunfight" place...
another group takes profit of the trend of japanese tripping with contributors/sugardaddys? . arcade stuff too sometimes (not focused on the tech, more on the games & fighting scene, but too many overknown places...), but they are way more funny !

Re: Collectors interviews in your part of the world..
even in France he didnt meet all the best, because they are some seclusive, secret, or have their own egos & dont need someone else to take publicity for their history... by example, someone has among things, a Sega R360, Konami road rage ! + TWO Cycrafts and one (with f*cking unbelievable F-ZERO MONSTER RIDE ! ) and i know the story because of me motivating Monsch, (AGS never figured who connected him), so Andygeezer made the deal of the 1 of only 2 original games existing on Earth !! (the 5 other prototypes were said destroyed between Sega/Nintendo disagreement) (my 6th sense whispers from years that Andygeezer due to his background abilities has the NAND backup ). That would be the absolute arcade exploit to prove it works in Netdimm or Nand custom repro !!!

I can't follow one thing you're jibberjabbering about.
Florents videos are great. He seems polite and curtious and it's nice to see him speak japanese. That's enough.

Re: Collectors interviews in your part of the world..
Why are you in arcades ? because you expect the best. You could stay playing superfamicom/segamastersystem ports if you play low level.
Most people become lazy that's the point if you watch deeper. there was an "Awesome" thread on Shmups, it became so lazy. except the hype of SDOJ exa arcadia recently & Arcade projects, many places become too much lazy. you don't move on when you're not hungry. Arcade was supposed to be the best of the best on gaming. it needs awesome facts & hype & Adrenaline. We're not on Cyberpunk 2077, but yes, hungry arcaders still want to be on the Edge.
