For some reason I thought this was on steam. I didn't realise that it's EXA exclusive.

The only thing that’s exclusive is the name and the pricetag

Ah, different name.

There's got to be something exlusive to the Exa version though.

I quickly analyzed some obvious differences from gameplay videos of the home version versus the screenshots of the new arcade version. I will let other owners discover more.

I have not played either of those games, but I do notice that player select screen has three pre-fixed types on the arcade version called Akyrios Exa while Danmaku Unlimited 3 has customizable modules for primary shot and beam, with up to 25 unique combinations, and some must be unlocked.

I get a weird feeling why that name had to be changed to Akyrios when it was originally called Danmaku Unlimited 3 Valkyrie.

As posted on Arcade Belgium forums:
Compared to the home version:
- enemy patterns in each stage are different.
- A voice is added throughout the game.
- There is now an auto bomb on/off option
- The ships have been rebalanced to focus on specific play types.
- New HUD
- 4:3 mode for CRT monitors

So while other people were panic buying bogroll for lockdown, I panic bought this.

First impressions were that unlike A&B this one does look like a mobile game. It looks 480p native to my eyes so the DB does it no favours. Would look great on a CRT I'm sure.

As mentioned, Akyrios (pronounced more like Akryios?!) is a tweaked version of Spirit mode with optional autobomb. And it is a lot of fun. I'm only just getting started but finding the best spots to recharge and cash in the trance meter and learning to navigate the fiendish boss patterns for the perfect phase bonus is really addictive. In A&B you spend a lot of time at the bottom of the screen building your chain but you really have to grit your teeth and move up to navigate the boss patterns.
