Fwiw FedEx is now mega cheap (compared to the past) with FromJapan. I'm still happy with the service there, haven't compared with buyee though.

Seeing that message on my end as well. Will be very unfortunate if they are indeed closing up shop, as they were, by far, the best proxy service I have ever used. Great pricing on fees as well. Sent them an email asking for more details, and I'll share here if/when I hear back.

I have a rather large deposit with them, so I'm a little nervous about getting that back, but SMJ has always been good to me, so not really too concerned about it.

Anyone have any recommendations for where to go next? Can't say I'm a fan of Buyee's crazy fees/structure, and I didn't care for Rinkya the last time I tried to use it.

From Japan are about the best of the rest, and I used to switch between both.

Bad news if SMJ are going. Hopefully I'll get my deposit back, only $90, but I don't really want to just lose it.

Has anyone used ZenMarket?

There's a couple of Items I'm after that finish early next week I was going to use SMJ for but looks like I'm out of luck....

This would happen when I'm still in need of a Fastio TTX2 and a couple of Vewlix parts....

It'll save me a fortune - I was spending £300-400 a month with SMJ.

Cheers, lads. Guess I'll give From Japan a go.

Got a response back from SMJ - they are indeed shutting down. They're refunding my deposit at the end of the week. :(

I assume they’re refunding all deposits as a matter of course then.

Taking that back, the infinite scroll rather than pagination is a ridiculous idea.

consequences of the anti money laundering act ? Transparency and declaration madness don`t go along very well.

I'd say more likely increased competition in the market.

What was that other proxy that modified the declaration option? The world gets smaller every day.

FromJapan - this is limited to reducing the value by 25% of the original value now.

That's sad news about SMJ closing, they've been perfect over the years. I had a hotel in Japan once that was just down the street so stuck my head around the door. :awe:

What was the SMJ deposit for?, I just had the spending limit set at a decent amount when I opened the account a long time ago. Probably they pre-authorised a credit card.

The other site I have been using for the search/browsing facility is Jauce, but I've yet to sign up.

Deposits were to allow bidding up to a specific amount in JPY. The deposits worked as a multiplier, so for every 1 JPY deposited, you got N increase in bidding power. I forget the exact amounts.

Hi all,

maybe a long shot but is there anyone on here who has an account on a proxy service that would buy something for me on YAJ?

if so please let me know its only a Taito Type x2 size item.

Cheers,
John
