OK, that's really neat. Might actually finish off Faselei with a screen that you don't have to hold under a desktop lamp.

I wonder if it'll fit the Japanese slim one? I might be best just grabbing a regular one of ebay.

I'll get properly bivert-curious if the Analogue Pocket reviews aren't favourable. :whoopsie:

Oh that's very cool. I have one with Mr Driller on it. It's a nice game, but I vastly prefer it on other platforms.

So seems like i missed that you can now get an IPS display for your GBA. Needs a shell mod (or different shell) and different lens because it's slightly bigger. Looks better and is cheaper than the 101 screen, at least on videos. Guess i'll order one and see what it's like, if it ever arrives due to this covid thing
Any of you have the gba ips panel?
(there's also one for DMG's, but that looks way too sterile on pictures/videos to me)

Better is debatable. It's a higher native resolution, so everything is integer scaled up and you lose the screen door and 1:1 pixel mapping of a 101.

The response time of the 101 / refresh / I’ve no idea what it’s called, is awful for fast scrolling games, it ghosts badly.

I’d be interested to see a proper comparison on that alone.

I’ve got a GB ips screen on the way from China. Screen + shell under £30 shipped from Ali. I’ll post some impressions when it arrives

Are you certain about that? I’ve heard this a couple of times but I’d love to see a comparison.

Reason I ask is I’d see this topic come up on GBATEMP about 101 LCD clones in threads of various years. Someone will say there’s a big improvement, someone says maybe a little, and someone says no. The correct answer is always: no.

The other reason I ask is: I’d like one.

Oh wait I may have crossed wires.

I thought cools was referring to the latest TN 101 clones, not the IPS screen. I don’t want the IPS (yet).

I assume the IPS **** all over the 90s tech screens but it’s neither original nor suitably **** enough to pass as original, so I’m out. 🥴

Cools is talking about the clone 101, but why bother when the price difference is so small?

I’d just edited my last post with my main answer.

Im not 100% out. It takes a bit more hacking to install and it’s scaled (though clean integer scaling I assume) so you lose a bit of the lovely 90s 1:1 ****.

@pubjoe The one in the GBA you had from me should qualify.

I'll check some games on mine later.

For comparison:
pubjoe wrote: May 28th, 2018, 12:33 pm I thought Markedkiller posted a vid but I cant find it.

Mario games or anything else with sprites with black outlines. On Super Mario Bros 3’s map screen you can notice the doubled black outlines of all the dancing hills flash across the screen every second.

GB games show it quite well. Watch Link as he moves, and the screen transition.
