Cave 68000 and Toaplan version 2 hardware

Post by ckong »

I want to make some PCB housings for Arcade games, like the games based on the Cave 68000 and the Toaplan Version 2 hardware:

https://www.system16.com/hardware.php?i ... =2259#2259

https://www.system16.com/hardware.php?i ... ge=1#19126

I don't own any of these games, unfortunately, but can someone tell me if the board dimensions for all the Cave 68000 and all the Toaplan version 2 games are the same for each hardware type?

I already made a housing for Batsugun, Cave CV 1000 games and Espgaluda. Here some Espgaluda pics:

That Espgaluda battery needs to be removed immediately.

Yes, I noticed that too, when I got it out the box where I stored it for a long time, and will be removed today.

Edit: done :)

In short: No. There are some games that use the same layout and dimensions but some do differ slightly or obviously. Fixeight for instance is a tad bigger than other Toaplan V2 games. Then again Battle Bakraid and the like use a completely different size/layout.

Same for Cave 68000 games. Some do match (Dangun Feveron/Guwange), some don't (ESP Ra.De).

I've got DonPachi, DoDonPachi, Guwange, and Dangun Feveron, I could get measurements. Should note that my DonPachi is the development version (1st version PCB), I'm not sure if the dimensions are exactly the same as the 2nd version (which is what 99.9% of people have).
