No way were Naomi kits $850 when new.

Like needaes, I was out buying Type X2 stuff when it was still current. Super Street Fighter IV 2012 AE was available for preorder at the time. It was 956,000 JPY, so roughly 9k USD for you Yanks. This included two software kits (HDD + dongle), as the game was 1P per cab.

For a cheaper title you could have preordered the standalone export version of Blaz Blue Continuum Shift II. Again, just the software kit. The game was already out on Nesica at the time too. The price for that one was 168,000 JPY.

EDIT: I found the emails, so I put up the exact pricing

Huh ? Weren‘t all the SF4 vers. Sold as bundle of 4 ? I picked up a SF4 Hardware Kit from a member here for ~4000$ Shipped via UPS Express from Canada at release when he bought a set of 4.

Picked up several other new TX2 hardware kits for less than 2000$, but not directly on release, but a few months after. (Kof12, BB)

Well, this was from a reseller. It's possible they were splitting them up.

SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4 (HDD+DONGLE FOR TYPE-X2) @JPY1,912,000./SET
(HDD+DONGLE) x4 + SSF4 ID CARDx100

SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4 (HDD+DONGLE FOR TYPE-X2) @JPY956,000./SET
(HDD+DONGLE) x2 (SSF4 ID CARD IS NOT INCLUDED)

The software kits didn't even include any art. They gave you download links, so you could get the art printed by yourself :problem:

they probably did, but all the Street Fighter 4s were really expensive to start with and the exchange rate at that time is probably also a factor.

Never the less, SF4 was a tripple A game.

Personally, as i have mentioned, i don`t see a problem witht he Software prices, the Motherboard prices are a bummer for me.

well, maybe this works out, if you can beat tripple A game´s income with these games, like Eric said.

in the meantime i`m looking forward to your guys impressions, pictures and reviews.

Nintendo's lawyers.

I was on troll watch and mistakenly thought Ikaru was making another one of those dumb "Why would anyone buy this when you can get it on Steam/consoles" posts.

I wonder if the Japanese ops and collector's scene has this much drama.

Love the enthusiasm of the “otaku” scene but I just wonder.. how much of the addressable market do the home collectors think they represent? I love a good, passionate debate on all things, but exA wasn’t invented to service the forum buyers first and foremost.

Let’s get passionate about the fact that there is actually something new, something fresh on the arcade horizon in this stagnating industry and be thankful that it’s actually coming through to fruition.

I’ve been away from this scene for the better part of 8 years but I can honestly say that the exA project has me more excited than anything in that time.

P.S. Big fat hello to those who I’ve missed over the years (Franco, are you still doing fancy plexi? Superpang, are you still looking after my TX2? Kernow, are you still.. kernow? Cools, did you finally realise that TNZS isn’t the best game ever? :-) )

You may feel differently with your Exa having been dropped off by Shou and heading out business class. That is fine.
Amazing! :-D
Does anyone know if Shou is offering this personalized delivery service for general PCB pickups? Or is it strictly for exA?

On topic - I was never seriously expecting to be buying this, and have only been pretty casually following updates. But Gimmick looks seriously awesome. Quite how I'd failed to spot that one until now, is anyone's guess

I'm excited about the possibility of RType- (Delta is my favorite ;) ) on the system. I'm hoping this thing does well, the idea of new games and such jamming on to the scene is very exciting. I think that while a lot of these are mobile/steam upgrades, I do get the feeling that a lot of eyes are on this system to see where it goes.

We appreciate all of the excitement that can be seen here.
When preorders go up, there will be a note here.
You can check Famitsu and other Japanese media for the latest as we released more info today.

More to come soon. Tell it to them, IKD.
