Cab first, was using a modded Xbox with an (urgh) X-Arcade for all my arcade goodness before that. Never really thought about owning a supergun.

Cabs. I was on the verge of buying a Sigma (typed out a pm a few times but never sent them) on KC then the lovely Tone put the Last sale up. I'm really glad I didn't go down the gun route.

Cab
Other than for testing purposes I've never seen the worth in a SuperGun. Delicate, hard to replace PCBs sitting in the open air ready to have drinks/cats/feet all over them? No thanks.

I went in stages, first SG & TV then SG & monitor with my Naomi 2 set-up, then Mini-Cute.

Old style 'Raven Games' supergun was my first foray into arcade gaming.
Tbh it did the job @ the time, & it's only when you finally get a cab that you think 'how did i cope before this???'
God bless Tone, wherever he may be

Re: Did you start with a cab or a Supergun?
I bought an mvs board, a jamma connector and a psu and a few games to start.
Then I built my first supergun with a cardboard case
I loved fighters, so I decided to buy a CPS2 board with SFIIX SFZ.
The first PCB's were esprade and battle garegga.
I was using neogeo sticks for snk and modded dreamcast sticks for capcom games.
My first cab was a woodie. The second one a small SNK sitdown. lots of cabs followed..
Now I own several cabs, sega racers and pinball machines

Re: Did you start with a cab or a Supergun?
Cab first - had been thinking about getting one for ages then a cheap Nintendo Space Firebird cocktail came up on eBay and i took the plunge. Took me a couple of years to get round to fixing it up.
Next up was a Mushiking i bought from andygeezer a few months back - have converted it to mame and put a new 1l6b cp on it, and it is a lovely machine.
Finally, i got a lordsvale MVS off ebay a week or so back - fantastic condition but the onitor needs some work so that is being done at the moment, and will hopefully have it back in a couple of weeks.
Next? Well, this christmas i hope to find someone selling a lovely, shiny Astro City or something similar which i can give pride of place in my growing gamesroom...
As for superguns, thought about getting one, and even bid on a couple on ebay but now i have cabs working i cant really see the point unless yo are really strapped for space...

Re: Did you start with a cab or a Supergun?
Cab first. The cab I have doesen't really meet all my needs so I've thought a lot about a supergun but to actually set it up the way I would like would cost me almost as much as getting one of the cheaper candies so why bother. And cabs are sexy! superguns look like some big nerdy wire mess on the floor.

I don't see the point of having a supergun. If you have enough money and space...

Re: Did you start with a cab or a Supergun?
Cab first (a Konami Windy leftover from a KC order - cheers to Mark, Joe & Chun ).
However, I had been into MAME since about 1998, and bought a Hanaho HotrodSE around 2000-ish... but that doesn't count.

Cab right away. No need for a supergun I think? Unless it's a space or wife issue.

Re: Did you start with a cab or a Supergun?
strait to cabinet for me. I dont think i would ever own a supergun. im too clumbsy I would trip over somehting and go face first through a cave board lol. I need a big white shell around it just so its "some what" Lordstar proof.
dont worry guys all your wives are eyeing up the space your cabinets are taking up. You could put a cubard for shoes there, some kinda of ornimental screen or even a sewing machine THINK OF THE POSSABLITIES GIRLS!!!!111! soo you will all be religated to that old garden shed with a 14inch colour tv on its saide with you little super guns.

Re: Did you start with a cab or a Supergun?
a projector with an realy good home cinema sound system going on would be a good reason to get a super gun. thats the only time i would consider getting one.

Pure impulse buy off ebay. Didnt even know how I was going to pick it up and had nowhere to put it other than my parents dining room
