I'm confused,is Spike Out an actually sought after game? It's all over the place in terms of pricing.

~£1750 currently in Japanese PCB shops.
Only at Tops. This year on YAJ I've seen two bare PCBs (and a couple other ones that were full or partial kits). The first in January, sold for 157,000 yen. The second, last month, sold for 200,000 yen: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o332437176

I got mine from STV in around 2011/12. PCB & arts, no box. £350. Sold the arts to Mark for peanuts too.

Similar date/prices for Galuda 2, Futari and DFK.

It's probably due to the "value" of the video board which can be used in other Model 3 step 2 games like Sega Rally 2. They are apparently hard or impossible to repair, and it's been a while since I checked but some spare part sellers used to charge like 300-400 quid for the video board alone. It was cheaper to try and source a full boardset for Spikeout or Virtua Striker 2.

Bought it for €600 at MAK, PCB, artwork and box in 2008, no shipping costs or customs (customs were closed at the time of arrival back home...lucky me). I wanted to buy Pink Sweets, but they didn't have that one at the time, I bought MMP without having seen or played the game...still think it's a fantastic game.

Maybe 10 years ago. Like you said, Virtua Striker 2 runs on the same hardware and that's a 200 euro board at most, even today.

Spike Out is relatively uncommon and it has a cult following in Japan. There's also a bunch of extra hardware that you need if you want to run with music which will add to the cost.

Two Final Edition sets with all the hardware needed to run them in a Jamma cab plus artwork went for around 70k each on YJ:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/401888817

Anyway, it's a fun game. The market for selling one is in Japan though.

What's the going rate for a control panel upper for an Egret 2? It's been prepped and painted nicely. Thanks!

ah I see.Okay that sems to make sense.
I've seen a couple in the region here and the regular going rate I've seen are about 500 Eur for an entire cabinet (White Euro Sega Woodie cabinet, same as with Virtua Fighter), but Ive seen boards go for more as in your example there. It makes sense now.

Price check Capcom vs SNK 2 (naomi, gd drive, adapter, cables, disc). Basically a plug and play setup.
