Help Opening New Astro City Coin Lockbox

Post by mikaeltarquin »

Hello! I recently acquired a New Astro City cabinet. It came with one 5380 key that opens the service compartment, coin chute, and control panel. However, the lock on the coin lockbox is different and does not have a key. From pictures, I took a chance and figured it was the Sega 5575 dimple lock that seems to be common on these cabs. However, the one I purchased from eBay does not seem to open the lock. It does insert nicely, so I know it's the right style. I wonder if anyone knows what other possible key it could be, or if I'm better off just drilling it out and replacing it with a new lock/key set?

Here are some pictures I took of the key and lock:

Thanks to anyone that may be able to help!

Sega made the coin box keys different to the rest. It could be one of hundreds of their lockbox keys.

An update for anyone that stumbles across this. I managed to get it open! A coworker of mine happened to have a lockpick set on him that I could borrow. Never picked a lock before, and got this baby open in about 10 minutes. I was extremely happy. Got it cleaned and swapped the lock with an unused one from beneath the control panel.

Wow this is impressive, I thought that style of lock was really hard to pick. I'm glad you didn't have to drill it out.
