Nanao MS-2930 chassis compatible with Toshiba A68KSM696X tube (from MS-2933)?

Post by eggsanwich »

Hi all,

I have a Nanao MS-2930 chassis that I want to connect to a tube from a Nanao MS-3933 (Toshiba A68KSM696X).

Is it possible to do a straight swap like this?

Thanks

yes yoke specs are the same, only issue may be heater resistor but that is nothing major

Thanks grantspain

Do you happen to know the proper resistor value and location on the chassis?

depends on tube and value of resistor already in location, my advice is put the chassis on the tube and see what happens first

Hey grantspain,

I connected the chassis to the tube today and got no picture, only black screen.

There is neck glow and the chassis is known to be working.

Any thoughts?

turn up the screen volts adjustment on the flyback to see if you get anything onscreen

Thanks grantspain,

I adjusted the flyback and was able to get a picture on screen:

Looks like I might have picked up a chassis issue along the way.

Plugged it into another tube to confirm and got the same result (albeit blue, not red. It's sometimes green too):

I tried all remote board adjustments and none seem to much (if any) effect.

The strangest thing is after messing around with the wiring harness and patching some wires, I got it working properly for a few minutes. However after putting the monitor back in the cab, it's back to showing the small, blue image again.

Could this be a cold solder joint, or possible a failing component, or something else?

Necro bump to say this issue is fixed. Found a split on one of wires on the remote board cable; splicing it back together resolved the issue.

Thanks again for your patience and assistance Grantspain :D
