I bought a pair of vewlix F from John's order and they turned up with fastio cards in them....
All my stuff is JVS.
I managed to pick up one taito JVS card so one cab has been reconfigured.
So far I've been unable to source another Taito card but I do have a couple of the Sega ones.
I know the connector and the pinout is different but is it feasible to do it without the Taito-Sega conversion kit?

It should be possible with a bit of tracing out. Here's a couple of pics of the adaptor if that helps:

Re: Installing a sega i/o in a vewlix?
I'm thinking - the easiest way to do this is to make a Sega to Vewlix power adapter that merges P1/P2 on Taito to CN2/CN7 on the Sega one and then make a new 60-pin connector that has the Vewlix plugs for J, K and C.

Re: Installing a sega i/o in a vewlix?
Thanks for digging out the Taito pinout, i've added it to the wiki
That sounds like a good plan - instead of making an 60pin adaptor that could only be used in the Vewlix, make a loom that can be used in other Taito cabs

We also know that +EXV on pin-1 needs to be connected to pin-3 or the controls wont work.
So Sega 60-pin to 1P & 2P controls Taito goes...
15 -> P1 - 12 (GND)
16 -> P2 - 12 (GND)
17 -> P1 - 01 (Start)

36 -> P2 - 10 (FIRE 5)
37 -> P1 - 11 (FIRE 6)
38 -> P2 - 11 (FIRE 6)
Then I need to make an adapter to connect up these (but as half of this doesn't exist in a Vewlix it's only the odd pins that need wiring up)...
41 -> C05 (1P Service)
42 -> N/C (2P Service)
43 -> C06 (Test Sw)
44 -> N/C (Tilt Sw)
45 -> C01 (Coin SW1)

The one issue I see with this (sorry for the necro bump) is that the sega IO needs 5V AND 12V, whereas only 12v is supplied to the stock Taito IO. And IIRC there’s no source for 5v under the CP.
