Vewlix Questions (Repro CPOs)

Post by geldra »

Can anyone tell me whether a Vewlix can be broken down into various smaller parts for transportation/storage? I can see that the main control panel comes off but I haven't seen many broken down any further.

Also, can the monitors be swapped around easily enough? (If I wanted to upgrade to a 1080p panel in a Vewlix L for instance. May not need to, but its good to know that I have the option)

Astro City is only a letter away from atrocity. Makes you think doesn’t it?

You can't disassemble it like a candy cab, the best you could do it take the rounded top off. For a real Taito Vewlix, there aren't any 1080p monitors available. The Diamond version came with one, but I'm not sure you can fit it in an L.

I think Jan on this forum knows a lot about these cabs.

Post pictures when you get it.

In fact, only the main control panel is removable.

You can also disassemble both sides and remove the screen, however the cab would not decrease in length.

You can use a 1080P TV that would fit in the cab, as genuine full HD screens from Taitotech are still expensive.

Does anyone know if there are any sources for getting reproduction or (actual Taito) control panels for a Vewlix C?

Email Taito at OVS@taito.co.jp

I had them make a 2p panel last year. It took some time as they wait for 10 orders to come in before they build them, but it's basically your best bet. I've heard mixed things about reproduction panels.

For a 2 player Vewlix F panel, two joystick brackets, and the overlay (you assemble it yourself) it was around $280 USD. You have to wire the money to Taito, so there is a wire fee from the bank as well.

My Chewlix has a Shadaloo 2L16B clone AMI panel fitted and it's OK but I also have a Taito AMI CP and you can tell it's not as good quality but it's pretty damn close.

It's almost half the price as the one from Taito, he does L, C & F versions and has some in stock.

TBH : the most annoying thing is there are 8 buttons per player, the originals only have 7.

2 * Vewlix Diamond Blacks,2 * Vewlix-F, 1 * Sega Rally 3, 1 * Video Pinball, 1 * DinoKing (JAMMA Converted).

parts or an assy ?

that is a big difference. they used to sell assys at 39,000yen/ea, now the parts alone are more expensive than the assys used to be. And they keep telling me since 2017 that assys are no longer available, thou they were nice enough to offer to attach the sticker to the panel for an extra charge of 10,000yen :lolno:

They still do 1 player assys from what I know.

Just the parts. It took about 5 or 6 weeks for enough orders to come in for them to start producing the panels, but they had overlays in stock at the time.
