Cap kit welcomed trouble

Post by ncruz »

Hey guys,

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Im relatively new to owning candy cabs and just got my second one and it was working when I got it....just had some white bleeding and lightness on the sides. So decided to do a cap kit on the ms9 chassis and at first nothing...so I checked my work. Found a couple bad solder joints popped it back in and now I have a dual set of marquee 'ing blue segments up the middle...

Any idea what could be causing this? Could it just be a cap short somewhere?

Sorry again and thank you for all your help. If you would like more pictures or details, let me know!

its odd, looks more like a game board fault than chassis- check you +5 and try a different board if you have one

you have full vertical deflection and from what i can see full horizontal deflection , when you capped this did you remove any chassis interconnects?

I didnt remove anything else from the chassis other than the caps....although I'm not sure what you mean by "interconnects"? You mean board traces or something?

Sorry

disconnect video signal, increase screen volts on flyback so you can obtain a light full raster
reconnect video signal, post photo of result

Disconnect the video signal as in the whole neck board or just the 2 blue/red and green/yellow molex?

i think there is a cap wrong polarity or value or maybe a shorted track from solder work
