Re: Game Boys (Bivert-curious welcome)
For screen protectors I use the bathroom with the steam method. Leave the shower running for 5 minutes, keep cleaning the screen, keep shower running and once I'm happy no new dust seems to be settling work on the installation. No issues with moisture.
The DMG seems to be more tolerant, you're working in a very confined space and you have a chance to get the dust out as there's no adhesive required. Didn't have any trouble with dust. Was working in two kitchens though, FWIW.

Re: Game Boys (Bivert-curious welcome)
Hopefully my buying spree is done. Four original transparent DMG-01 in total. I'll green backlight the remaining three, keep one as a spare and sell the other two.
Still need to backlight my GBAs too. Got everything unpacked yesterday after the house move, should have time soon.

Re: Game Boys (Bivert-curious welcome)
Did a GBA. Took ages because I was triple checking everything and reassembling to make sure it all fit. Easy enough. Would have been quicker with a non-Poundland scalpel set.
Cheapro plastic lens fitted as the original was pretty scratched up before I started, and I managed to scratch the inside during the work...
That's with the DA1 point soldered, and I didn't need to adjust the pot at all.Cheapro plastic lens fitted as the original was pretty scratched up before I started, and I managed to scratch the inside during the work...

Micro Machines. Cracking little version of the game done by Ocean, almost unplayable on a stock DMG due to blur. Brilliant on a bivert!

Re: Game Boys (Bivert-curious welcome)
Got a copy of Drill Dozer on the way and figured I should do another AGB-101 so I'd have a way to play it. Two hours work later:
Very little light bleed too.
A bit less frustratingly fiddly with a decent knife (I bought an X-Acto Z specifically to do these) but just as tedious. Can't get away with collateral scratches in a transparent case. Kept the original plastic lens undamaged in this one.Very little light bleed too.

I've got another two to mod, both are Fuschia ones. I'll keep one and sell the other.

Might do one tonight, I forgot I bought some new flush cutters that should make the plastic trimming a lot quicker. £60+P&P

Re: Game Boys (Bivert-curious welcome)
Damn it.
Got a clear shell and another screen on the way from ViViGame and Gamers Zone Store on Aliexpress.
This one must have taken a fall in a previous life. While reassembling the screw post near the power switch shattered. A touch of superglue to try and bodge it... bad idea, the fumes denatured the backlight. Now I'm out a shell, a screen, and a replacement lens. Got a clear shell and another screen on the way from ViViGame and Gamers Zone Store on Aliexpress.
