MVS Cart PCB Burning

Post by Stox58 »

Hi,

Anyone come across anything like this before?.
It’s board one from Metal Slug 3 and the cart seems to work ok at the moment.
I’ve only just brought the cart and I’m not sure to either return it or just ask for a discount.

Thanks from Luke

Looks like the NEO-CMC chip on the bottom board caught fire. I'm going to guess the complete CHAFIO board must have been replaced, because the chip has a million pins and would be an absolute pain to solder in. Look for anything odd about the board just to be sure.

Honestly, if it works, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would wipe the burn mark off though.

The Chafio board looks all ok, so you think someone has made a working cart from two broken ones. The only other thing that I’ve noticed is that the plastic rectangle what the pcbs slide into has also been replaced.
What should I use to remove the burn marks ?

Thanks from Luke

How would that even occur? Too much voltage?
