Not surprised tbh. Let's hope he dumped it for his own preservation at least.Spork wrote:zak wrote:I sometimes wonder if CAVE staff are listing these items themselves
Would be nice of them to list a DoDonpachi Campaign PCB out of the blue.
Unless Shou has access to that particular PCB already.
The pcb is different so you couldn't just rom swap it and on top the only owner I know about will literally take it to the grave not allowing the rom to go public. Maybe after he dies it will get released.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine is that the guy owns a unique source of joy and he's the only person in the world who has the power to allow other people to also have that joy, and he chose not to let them have it, despite the fact that it would cost him nothing. Even if he wanted the cash value of the board first he could dump it privately, sell then release. He just doesn't want other people to ever have that joy.

Re: Items you can't afford on Yahoo Japan Auctions
I don't know what I'm supposed to clarify as I don't recall bringing up an acquisition plan unless you mean waiting the guy out. What I think should happen is the owner should share the dump but he was asked to and the answer is no, he never will. So I'm saying the roms might not be on the internet until he grows old and passes away and then maybe someone who has backed up the roms for him or acquires the board at that point, hopefully will upload them on the internet. That's what our chances look like. Thus zak and crew should know that so they don't continue with false hope, because people have been thinking we have a good chance and it turns out we don't.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion. And voicing them out is oh so important. The right for that guy to not dump the ROMs was given to him by GOD.

You'd deprive him of the joy of knowing he's got something special no-one else has?Spork wrote:Everyone is entitled to their opinion. He's not harming anyone, let him be.

Re: Items you can't afford on Yahoo Japan Auctions
About 13 years ago I offered a 20k bounty for the pcb and even got in touch with a chap who knew the owner. The answer was 'no' back then too. I pretty much lost hope after that.Spork wrote:I don't know what I'm supposed to clarify as I don't recall bringing up an acquisition plan unless you mean waiting the guy out. Still a nice thought to think we will be able to try it in 20 years from now.

I don't recall saying anything about depriving anyone. Everything is in the hands of the owner, nothing in mine. I am confused that this is 2 people now accusing me of some plan to raid the guy's home and I said nothing of the sort so I need to be pointed toward where I said that in order for me to understand how I could be getting asked this. But you have basically defined selfishness and then asked me what I have against it.

Re: Items you can't afford on Yahoo Japan Auctions
The vibes you are giving off is that he has a duty to either sell or dump it, for the joy of others.
Thats a very slippery moral argument, especially when its about a source of entertainment.
For the purposes of history is also a terrible one.
If it'd cure some major disease then *maybe* i'd be on the "he should release it" side but even then I'd struggle with the morality of saying its a duty.
