None of it’s fair now.

If you sell for a profit :lolno: it won’t even put a dent in what you’ve been forced to pay for other games.

Edit: if you’re happy with €600, then I doubt a buyer could complain, even after a repair.

Just a question. do you guys consider capacitor changing as devaluing to the pcb? I do that to all my boards just to make sure they last another 20 years.

i don`t, but i mention it because i know there are people who do.

funny storry, i recently offered a New Astro City, very good condition, stunning original MS9 , bright , no burn, perfect geometry.

now , a chap was intressted, so i send me alot of pictures, test picture, picture from the tube turned off with flash, the usual stuff.

but then he asked me to check the chassis if any caps were replaced , i was like :wtf: :wtf:

there are some odd people out there.

^same here. There was a thread somewhere here on the subject. I think the takeaway was, if you know of, or see any repairs, mention them in the sales thread.

The one thing that worries most people is ongoing corrosive damage caused by leaking acid / alkaline.

New caps are generally a positive in my eyes, a chassis being the big one that sprigs to mind.

Jan, Tell me you sold it despite the fact. Haha. That is insane.
I'm just imagining a guy running around looking for a mint all original parts Moonwalker PCB now.

Yeah I can see and understand that, bought a couple of boards where I had to end up fixing up more stuff on the board after it was bodged up.
Honestly if the repairs were done by a skilled technician, I really wouldn't mind. Unfortunately a lot of the boards I've seen seems to be done by some amateurs.

its interesting now regarding repairs, up until few years ago the cost of a 'professional' to identify and repair a fault would have been at about least 50% of the value of a board for 80%+ of the jamma library hence so many amateur or bodged repairs, as after repair the board would have cost the owner a significant percentage above what would have been average market value at the time and the supply demand was no where near as tight as it now so replacement boards and parts allowed people to attempt this with little financial and time outlays.

I've noticed there are a few people who's work is to significantly high standard and known to the communities do get named if they have done the repairs, and with the older dedicated woodies (1980-95) etc theres tend to be a owner and repair history known post 2000-2005 most of the time. when this is the case it doesn't seem to affect pricing significantly compared to excellent condition or un-repaired examples.

getting pcbs refurbished then sealed with a condition grading, i wouldn't be surprised if this service came about in the next couple of years, and if prices inflated 100%+ across the board then i think inevitable. I'm surprised no-one has attempted to do this with something cave already to be honest

I did see your FS thread, from September (was one of the few recent sold copies I'd seen). Was 220 EUR what yours sold for in the end?
