Removing the smoke smell?

Post by Someone »

So I want to get a Japanese machine, but supposedly they smell like smoke. (which would not fly around here, because people are super sensitive to that)

Has anyone had good luck removing that smoke smell from candy cabs? If so, how?

(Note: Prefer to avoid super toxic "scent maskers" like Febreeze, and actually remove the scent if possible.)

Are ozone machines safe on candy cabs? (Toxic but dissipates, oxidizer)

Coffee grounds? (Attracts roaches?)

Baking soda?

Anything effective without hurting the cab?

Just give the cab a good wipe down. The odor you smell is mostly coming from a tar film left on the cabinet. The majority or all of the smell will be gone with a good cleaning. :awe:

Edit.

The guy didnt ask about masking smells :problem: but maybe if you eat enough taco bell you can create a new aroma for your cabinet :awe:

definately you could also use a very light amount of dish soap diluted first and then finish off with another clean wipe at least for the inside, not sure if thats bad for the outside lol

Strip the machine down fully. Take it in to your garden and spray it inside and out worn a bathroom/kitchen spray that contains a bit of bleach. Give it a scrub and then hose it down. Leave to drip dry and then reassemble ;-)

From my experience, they don't smell that much, maybe if you stick you nose inside, but chances are the machines have been off the grid for years, so I wouldn't be too much worried about the smell.

Eeurghhhh.... that is exactly what it looks like as it's all dripping down the machine after spraying the chemicals on it  :hinthint:
