Replace 28" CRT with 26" LCD
I have four cabinets but not currently working due to f***ing monitors.
Thinking of buying a 26" LCD from Videotronics (£150) or Sega and seeing if I can make them fit and also if I like them.
Any thoughts...... apart from don't do it.

Pretty sure there were guys on Ukvac and J+ selling 28" tubes recently.
I reckon you can still get them if you start a wanted thread.
Someone got a dodgy pony?

Re: Replace 28" CRT with 26" LCD
While I love CRT, my eyes to seem start hating them, maybe I got used to lcd... After some minutes playing I get tired even having a darkened parsol cristal in front of the screen (Irem madonna here)
I have toyed the idea of swapping the 25" crt for a 23-24" flat pannel, but the solely idea hurts more than my fatigue
Maybe an IPS pannel with fast response and a device like an OSSC or Framemaister fakes it decently.

Have you tried having the CRT chassis' repaired? Surely that'll work out cheaper than 4 LCD's that have the wrong aspect ratio.

Hitesh, don't do this until you've explored every other avenue and if you must do it, don't butcher the cabs in such a way that it can't be undone.

Re: Replace 28" CRT with 26" LCD
Do you have 4 Pony Mark II 28 without working Monitor?
Or is there any other 28" cab I don´t know of?
I would try to get those monitors repaired or put some CRT TV´s in there.
28" CRT TV´s are very common, at least here in Germany there are 28" everywere.
Were are you from? Maybe I could get one of your cab´s ? I have 2 very nice 28" TV´s that are VGA capable.
So would be nice for NAOMI/31khz games.

Everyone here should be like that. There should be a rule that forbids woody talk.Shadolf wrote:I had only candy´s in mind

Re: Replace 28" CRT with 26" LCD
Err no..... they are not Woodies. I have four Jaleco Pony II. I am Eastbourne, England.
Here is my thread about purchase and restore. I think I did a good job : http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=27933
As soon as I posted the initial message, I though to myself that I should get the monitors working using Grant's service. Grant actually is not a million miles away and I could borrow van from work to get them to him.
Thats a decision made...... Grant it is....
