MVS cartridge issue

Post by zumbito »

Hi, I have disassembled a Shock Troopers 2 I just bought, to check if it was bootleg or not, but have no idea, one pcb has the SNK logo, the other not:

After disassembling it, I cleaned it and left it drying and so stupid of me I didn't check how the boards were arranged. Now I'm scared of plugging it into the MVS and fry something. Any tips on how to get this right?

The set is definitively a bootleg. One board has been designed on purpose to hold flash memories. For the other the bootleggers have used another worthless game and replaced all chips on board.

To reassemble the stack, you first need to tell apart the PROG and CHA boards. Now, the one on the right is the PROG board while the other resembles a CHA board.
As far as I remember, there are notches on the plastic that prevent you from swapping them. Yet they do not prevent you from flipping them (which is dumb, but whatever).
As you open the cart, the first thing you see are COMPONENTS, therefore you need both boards with the parts side UP. If I remember correctly, CHA on bottom, PROG on top. However please do check with the notches; or even better open another cart to verify which board goes on top of the stack.

Although I am not 100% sure, I hope this helps anyway.
My 15kHz cabinet Peplos will never power up, with any item, and I am quite proud of that.

With the screw holes of the shell facing you, PROG is on the top, CHA on the bottom. To check whether your carts are legit you can check here http://www.mvs-scans.com/index.php/Main_Page.
