Candy cab beginner
Guys,
I've been palying on my PVM monitors for some time, but I guess it's time to think about getting cabinet. Here in Serbia we have only Italian, German and some Chinese cabinets going up for sale. I hate all of them. They are large, heavy, they have small crappy monitors, etc.
As an absolute beginner, I was wondering if you can help me to find the best type of candy cab for me?
Some facts:
- CPS1, CPS2, NeoGeo games mostly
- Tate is not needed, but it could be.
- I am very picky about monitors, so it has to be with good geometry and colors
- Six buttons per player
- Price also has impact, since I'm shipping it from Serbia
I was reading a lot about this, and I though Astro City would be good.
I contacted rklok from Netherlands, and he seems like a nice guy with a lot of cabinets, so I think I'll import from him.

Re: Candy cab beginner
Yes, New Astro City/Astro City would be a good choice:
Has the amazing MS9 monitor. (MS8 for AC if not changed.)
Can tate.
Not that hard or expensive to find a 6 button panel.
Rklok is also a great chap to deal with.
Good luck.

I can't recommend the Astro/NAC enough. They're well built, there's plenty of spares, great monitors, and they even come apart quite easily if you have narrow doorways.

NAC has better speakers and the MS9 monitor.armorharmer wrote:Thanks guys! Does it matter wheter is NAC or AC? Is there a big difference between MS8 and MS9 monitor chasis and other things?
Some differences on the MS9/MS8 chassis but both are good monitors. The MS8 has some parts that tend to be more fragile than the more sturdy MS9.

New Astro was my first and was able to get my hands dirty (literally!) and mess around with things. Took awhile but actually got the 2p 6 button setup. Was a challenge but worth it!

Blast city is another good choice with nice monitor and sturdy build. Trisync too.

Re: Candy cab beginner
MS8 / MS9 are great, compared to other arcade monitors, but compared to a PVM / BVM, not so much.
The tubes in arcade monitors are B/C grade.
If you are very picky, you may never be happy with any arcade monitor. If you want the best 29" 15k arcade monitor, MS8 / MS9 is as good as it gets

The MS2931 is also great. Fantastic on 15 and 31k.markedkiller78 wrote:MS8 / MS9 are great, compared to other arcade monitors, but compared to a PVM / BVM, not so much.

Re: Candy cab beginner
Only problem with the 293x series is finding one without screwed up geometry in the corners
