Egret 2 Illumination Panel -- Different Versions?

Post by cless »

Ive been kind of oblivious to this until the other day, but i noticed that one of my Egret 2's has green/yellowish colorings on the illumination panel text and the other has a slightly different green with white coloring instead. Any idea if there were two different versions? Or is this probably something like sun/cleaning damage?

Could be either. They definitely made two different versions of coin slot, so you never know. Try and get a few pics from inside and outside on both machines for comparison.

Backlights are the same color. Pictures of the two types attached in case anyones curious. I assume the green and yellow is the later variation because the ones i got from taito tech before they ran out also had that color scheme.

Looks like yellowing to me. Fluorescent light does fade stuff, just look at MVS mini marquees.

Mine is yellow too. I also think that in the non-yellow the color is faded out.
It is the same issue than in the Astro Cities, the pink colour of the illumination panel tends to fade out.

Indeed, few E2's I have seen in my country (where these cabs can only be found on the worst conditions), I noticed that almost all of them had yellowed Illumination panels  .

There is only one ver. One of them is yellowed from heat/nicotine/age etc.

That's what I suspected.
It would make sense that some of the last NOS stock of EII illumination panels from Taito Tech were yellow due to just merely age/sitting on the shelf at Taito Tech for years on end.
I can't stand looking at the yellow on mine.
It reminds me of pee. But that goes for anything made of white plastic that has become gross **** yellow over time.
It would be such a fine day if/when some craftsman/entrepreneur can reproduce these.
The blank NOS one for the high price on ebay could serve as a perfect mold for such a en-devour or some kind fella's spare?

And perhaps a different plastic that does not yellow over time could be used? :penser:
