Marvel vs Capcom 2 and other NAOMI games w/ VMU capabilities
Information about NAOMI VMU compatibility is very scarce and limited, so I'd like to use this topic to call out experts on this matter. It would be nice if we could make an ultimate list of which games support VMU (and Dreamcast controller if we're at it), and more important, which VMU features does said game have? Also additional information in how to actually use said functions would be great to finally have available. For instance, how do you get the NAOMI version to save your progress on the VMU (I for one can't get it to work)?
From what I have found shattered around the WWW, the following games support the VMU and/or Dreamcast controller;
- Capcom vs SNK 2
VMU: YES
Controller: Unknown

Both F355 support the VMU
IIRC you can see your lap data on DC (or something like that)

there is also games with undocumented DC Controller support, for example "Border Down" and "Gun Survivor 2", but I'm sure there are more such games.

Re: Marvel vs Capcom 2 and other NAOMI games w/ VMU capabili
Of the games I own here is what I can add to this topic:
Capcom vs SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro (some sort of color edit mode imports to the arcade), Gunspike (not sure if vmu does anything), Marvel vs Capcom 2 (earn points for dc unlocks) and Moeru Justice Gakuen (allows you to import custom character from console to arcade) all work with the dreamcast controller and vmu when using japanese bios only.
Mobile Suit Gundam Federation VS Zeon and the DX version both work with the controller with usa bios and japanese bios but the vmu shows nothing.
The Typing of the Dead and Lupin III The Typing both use the keyboard through the same port (I have a dreamcast extension cable hooked to the port) and work in usa/japanese bios.
I don't own them but I know both Powerstone games work with the dreamcast controller in japanese bios because its an option when I ran them on emulators.
Edit: Most Capcom games will support playing with the Dreamcast controller as long as you are using Japanese bios or you have ArcadeModBios set to region Japan.
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 (JAPAN) works fine with the Dreamcast Controller but you will need to hookup JAMMA/JVS controls in order to input the character unlock codes as these will not work when inputted in the Dreamcast controller.

Re: Marvel vs Capcom 2 and other NAOMI games w/ VMU capabilities
I was wondering with all the accomplishments on the NAOMI hacking front; multi-bios, AW converts and pre-patched AW roms w/ unlocks (MS6 red blood) if anyone has looked into swapping a few things around in regards to VMU/controller support? Seeing that these options mainly work with the Japanese bios, I was curious to know if someone managed to swap the language files inside the ROM around, so that you get the Japanese game with English screen-text on a Japanese bios.

Can you unlock any extra weapons on Powerstone 1 with the VMU (like on the Dreamcast)?

Not sure about power stone 1 but I know on power stone 2 it really looks like you can. It has the same ending that shows unlocked items as the home version.zak wrote:Can you unlock any extra weapons on Powerstone 1 with the VMU (like on the Dreamcast)?
I need have some old friends over to play a bunch of power stone 2 with a VMU in to see what we can unlock.

I'll see what I can do for you. If I remember right PowerStone 1 has no controller/VMU support, but I will double check.

Nitpicking here.. but there is no such thing as Capcom vs SNK 2 Pro. There's Capcom vs SNK, Capcom vs SNK Pro and Capcom vs SNK 2.
Emulation's nice when done well

Has anyone tried using the Fishing Controller to play Sega Bass Fishing Challenge?
