Street fighter 3 versions.
Hi,
A guy is trying to sell me a No CD version of Stree Fighter 3 3rd strike. Is there such a thing? I thought all CPS3 games needed a CD.

I'm sure there were Asian No CD versions (possibly other regions)...as far as I remember they are legit versions. Maybe someone else can clarify, but I'm pretty certain they're official.

It's the cart that dictates whether or not the game is a no CD version.jhonny_d wrote:so with a nocd mobo one can simply swap simms and cart to change game?
You could get a CD-ROM drive, disc and cart for another game that is a CD version and use that to re-write the existing SIMMs, but you'd need to borrow a CD version 3rd Strike cart to rewrite 3rd Strike back to the SIMMs; you could then swap back to the no CD 3rd Strike cart again.

Is there any difference between the CD and noCD version? Why did you get rid of it?

The battery died after only 3 years. I think the game is the same apart from the boot screen saying NOCD. If you plan to buy a 3rd strike board stay away from the asia version. All the voices have been censored and are often missing completely. Also i think NOCD versions only existed for the japanese market.

There's definitely Asia versions of the NOCD games. Arcade club has a 3rd Strike one.

Just saw there are asia NOCD new generation versions too. So it's safe to say there aren't any USA NOCD boards?phillv85 wrote:There's definitely Asia versions of the NOCD games. Arcade club has a 3rd Strike one.
Some 90's ASIA games had all traces of japanese langauge removed since japan isn't very popular in that region. Gameplay is untouched of course. It's just a little confusing to throw silent fireballs or do silent dragon punches. And those who want to get rid of these boards rarely ever bother to tell you.zumbito wrote:Censored voices? Why?

Re: Street fighter 3 versions.
One question, what does a board No-cd? Is it the cartdrige? I mean changing the cartridge of a Jojo for a SF3NoCD will it make it playable? Or is it something else in the board?

Re: Street fighter 3 versions.
One question, I want to check my SFIII CD, but not sure when can I take out the CD. I've heard the board is very delicate, and I'm afraid taking it out while the board is on, will damage it, but if the board is off, the cd drive has no power to eject the CD. Is it safe?

Re: Street fighter 3 versions.
You can remove the CD when it is booting. Nothing will be damaged.
If you want to you can also jam the end of a paper clip into the pin hole next to the eject button. This will open the tray when it is unpowered.

Can someone school me on CPS3. Is there an easy way to tell apart an asia version of the cart?
