Japan's publisher game centres
Just wondering how many of these there actually were. Any contributions?

Re: Japan's publisher game centres
I think they were 6 Capcom Plaza arcades according to a Japanese amusement magazine dated 1996. Don't know of anymore. I think I have the addresses/pictures here somewhere.

Atlus, sorta.
http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Atlus_Co.,_Ltd.The company also manages Game Panic, Amusement Land Mu-Tairiku, and has developed Atlus Vegas in the virtual world of Second Life.

I've personally seen / been to all of those except anything of the Jaleco variety.. First I've heard of those. There are Atlus branded arcades as well.

I found reference to the Jaleco from some pics of a token, then trawling the Internet Archive Wayback Machine in 1997.

Re: Japan's publisher game centres
Theres still one in a shopping center near me:
It's 99% pachinko and redemption, with no candy cabs... so of course I never go.

Re: Japan's publisher game centres
There were two neo geo worlds weren't there? One in Tokyo and one in ... erm... another city... osaka?
There were also separate arcades afaik run by snk, though of course far outnumbered by private establishments. I've no idea if these made it over to the states, I don't think they ever made it over to Europe; at least not the UK.
Sorry a bit vague - Was this on that 'all about snk' dvd ?
A right I'm mixing this up if this wiki is to believed:
Game centres x 3 = neo geo land
http://snk.wikia.com/wiki/Neo_Geo_Land
Theme / Event parks x 2 = neo geo world
http://snk.wikia.com/wiki/Neo_Geo_World
As weird and wonderful as neo geo world was I think neo geo land would be of more interest here in terms of game centres?

Re: Japan's publisher game centres
Neo Geo World was bought out by Tokyo Leisure land. It's still a massive 24-hour arcade out on an island made of trash, but all of the SNK / Neo-Geo signage has been taken down.

Konami had an arcade chain in the 90s (not sure what year) through the early 00s called Circo Porto, which all either closed down or were bought out.

Re: Japan's publisher game centres
Wonder what happened to the signage. That stuff would be worth trying to hoover up when these places close down, pretty sure some of the collectors would pay to ship it.rancor wrote:Neo Geo World was bought out by Tokyo Leisure land. Trawled my tokens on the weekend and found the Konami Circo Porto (references Konami on small text), and an Atlus City
